Introduction: Emotion regulation can be defined as the process by which individuals manage their emotional experience. It has been demonstrated that deficits in this ability are associated with various psychiatric disorders. In this direction, the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) was developed to measure difficulties in emotion regulation.
Objective: To examine the psychometric properties of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the DERS.
Method: A total of 377 individuals from the general population, selected by convenience, completed a sociodemographic form, the adapted Brazilian Portuguese DERS and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21). Factor structure, reliability, and concurrent validity of the adapted version of the instrument were investigated.
Results: The confirmatory factor analysis replicated the six-factor structure originally proposed for the instrument and confirmed the acceptability of a hierarchical model where all DERS subscales loaded on a general emotion dysregulation factor. Internal consistency indicators had adequate values for the general factor and subscales. The positive association between DERS and DASS-21 scores supports the instrument's concurrent validity.
Conclusion: These results suggest that the Brazilian version of the DERS is reliable both as a general measure of difficulties in emotion regulation and as a measure of the constituents of this construct. Future research should investigate the psychometric properties of the scale in clinical and nonclinical populations, with equal gender proportions and diverse backgrounds, and preferably employing longitudinal designs.

: Recent research has increasingly explored the cognitive processes underlying eating disorders (EDs), including anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), binge eating disorder (BED), other specified feeding or eating disorders (OSFEDs), and individuals with higher weight (HW). This critical narrative review focuses on neurocognitive findings derived from mainly experimental tasks to provide a detailed understanding of cognitive functioning across these groups. Where experimental data are lacking, we draw on self-report measures and neuroimaging findings to offer supplementary insights.

To date, only a limited number of studies have investigated the potential effects of apelin on mood regulation and emotional behavior. Therefore, this study investigated apelin's role in major depressive disorder (MDD) by comparing the serum and plasma apelin concentrations between 30 patients with MDD and 30 healthy controls (HCs), and the correlated serum and plasma apelin levels and the severity of depressive symptoms using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). Blood samples were collected following 12 h of fasting, and the apelin levels were measured using an ELISA kit.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide and poses a tremendous socioeconomic burden upon individuals, countries and healthcare systems. It causes debilitating symptoms and thus interferes with many aspects of the patient's life, including physical functioning, cognition, emotional status, activities of daily living, social reintegration and quality of life. Post-stroke patients frequently experience functional motor disabilities of the upper limb, which restrict autonomy and self-efficacy and cause limitations in engagement with activities and social participation, as well as difficulties in performing important occupations.

Mobile-based digital interventions for children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have been developed to alleviate their symptoms. When developing mobile game-based digital interventions for ADHD treatment, it is important to research how the emotional responses of the target audience members-based on flashy visuals or difficulty adjustments to motivate the user-affect their content manipulation ability. This study performed a correlation analysis to examine the impact of perceived difficulty and enjoyment (interest) on the performance of children diagnosed with ADHD while engaging in game-based digital content.

: In utero exposure to painkillers has raised concerns regarding its potential impact on neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study investigates the association between in utero exposure to painkillers and trajectories of hyperactivity and emotional problems in children with and without ASD, separately. Data were drawn from 5107 participants enrolled in the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children.
