Campaigns to scale up Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) for the prevention of HIV transmission has been going on for years in selected Southern African countries, following recommendations from the World Health Organisations. Despite significant strides made in the initiative and its proven benefits, controversies surrounding the strategy have never ceased, and its future remains uncertain especially as some countries near their initial targets. Background: The post-ICU home recovery period requires patients and caregivers to confront recovery challenges and adopt coping strategies as a family dyad, necessitating effective dyadic interaction patterns. Existing qualitative research shows that the dyads face interactive or independent challenges and employs varying coping strategies, which may include strong communication or, conversely, avoidance. However, a single qualitative study alone might offer limited generalizability, and there is a lack of broader, more nuanced understanding about the recovery challenge and copings among ICU survivors and caregivers.

Background: The impact of androgens on metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and long-term mortality in the general female population remains poorly understood. This study, utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seeks to elucidate the relationship between androgen levels and metabolic syndrome (MS), CVD, and mortality in adult women.
Methods: After excluding ineligible individuals, descriptive analyses were conducted on demographic characteristics, metabolic-related indicators, and disease prevalence, based on the presence of high androgenemia and androgen quartile grouping.
