Article Abstract

A new three-dimensional europium-based metal-organic framework has been synthesized with the newly designed ligand L (6-[1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-1 H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl]nicotinic acid). This compound acts as a dual sensor for the phosphate anion and Fe ion in aqueous media. The mechanistic aspect of this selectivity and sensitivity was explored through several spectroscopic methods and then correlated with the corresponding structure.

Phosphate (Pi) has an important influence on the water environment and physiological processes. Therefore, developing fluorescent probe for quantitative detection of Pi is crucial for water environment monitoring and human health assessment. This work designed a dual-emission ratio nano-fluorescent probe GCDs/Eu-BDC based on europium-based metal-organic frameworks (Eu-MOFs) and blue carbon dots (GCDs) for multicolor fluorescence detection of Pi.

A large number of diseases caused by water pollution have become a global public health issue, and the development and construction of innovative and efficient photocatalytic systems for water remediation is vital to improve water quality and prevent bacteria-induced diseases. Herein, a europium-based metal-organic framework (Eu-MOF) was self-assembled with complex hourglass-shaped Eu clusters as secondary building units (SBUs), achieving excellent photoinduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation ability. Moreover, Eu-MOF can quickly and efficiently degrade organic dyes and kill a variety of bacteria under low-power light irradiation conditions.

A novel molecularly imprinted nanomaterial (Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP) was synthesized on the surface of silanized europium-based metal-organic frameworks (Eu (BTC)-MPS) using 1, 3, 5-benzotrioic acid (HBTC) as a ligand. The resulting Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP was applied to constructing a smartphone sensing platform for the sensitive and selective detection of clothianidin (CLT) in vegetables. The synthesized Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP demonstrated the successful formation of a typical core-shell structure featuring a shell thickness of approximately 70 - 80 nm.

Radioactive uranium leaks into natural water bodies mainly in the form of uranyl ions (UO), posing ecological and human health risks. Fluorescent europium-based metal-organic frameworks (Eu-MOFs) have been demonstrated to be effective fluorescent sensors for UO, but the large size, powder state and poor dispersity limit their further application. In this work, fluorescent Eu-MOFs were in-situ grown on TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNFs), which is the first time that spherical Eu-MOF crystals with sizes below 10 nm were prepared.

Background: Due to the unavoidable use of cerium in daily life, the accumulation of cerium in the environment increases health risks for humans. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a chemical sensing technology for the rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of cerium ions.

Results: In this research work, a novel two-dimensional chain structure of a europium-based metal organic framework (Eu-MOF) [Eu(tcpa)(Htcpa)] was synthesized by using 3,4,5,6-tetrachloro-1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid (HTCPA) as the ligand and europium nitrate as the metal source.
