We examined whether the stepwise oral immunotherapy (OIT) for 10 days ameliorates the severity of allergy and the biomarkers in an allergy mouse model. The OIT could not protect anaphylaxis symptoms after allergen challenges but promote the production of antibodies, especially allergen-specific IgA. It was suggested that this OIT influenced the function of immuno response against the allergen. Abbreviations: EW: egg white; IFC: intraperitoneal food challenge; IFN-γ: interferon-γ; IL: interleukin; OVA: ovalbumin; OM: ovomucoid; OFC: oral food challenge; OIT: oral immunotherapy.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in the colorectal cancer (CRC) microenvironment promote tumor progression but can be reprogrammed into a pro-inflammatory state with anti-cancer properties. Activation of the G protein-coupled receptor 84 (GPR84) is associated with pro-inflammatory macrophage polarization, making it a potential target for CRC therapy. This study evaluates the effects of the GPR84 agonists 6-OAU and ZQ-16 on macrophage activation and anti-cancer efficacy.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most common malignancies of the head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). HNSCC is recognized as the eighth most commonly occurring cancer globally in men. It is essential to distinguish between cancers arising in the head and neck regions due to significant differences in their etiologies, treatment approaches, and prognoses.

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in human serum, and it can provide carbon and nitrogen for biosynthesis, which is crucial for proliferating cells. Moreover, it is widely known that glutamine metabolism is reprogrammed in cancer cells. Many cancer cells undergo metabolic reprogramming targeting glutamine, increasing its uptake to meet their rapid proliferation demands.

Multiomic machine learning on lactylation for molecular typing and prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma.

Sci Rep

Department of Respiratory Diseases, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, No. 107, Culture West Road, Jinan, Shandong, China.

To integrate machine learning and multiomic data on lactylation-related genes (LRGs) for molecular typing and prognosis prediction in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). LRG mRNA and long non-coding RNA transcriptomes, epigenetic methylation data, and somatic mutation data from The Cancer Genome Atlas LUAD cohort were analyzed to identify lactylation cancer subtypes (CSs) using 10 multiomics ensemble clustering techniques. The findings were then validated using the GSE31210 and GSE13213 LUAD cohorts.

Immediate allergic responses, orchestrated by basophils and mast cells, are pivotal in severe allergic reactions. The flow cytometry-based Basophil Activation Test (BAT) is a clinically important assay for testing allergic reactions using CD63 and CD203c as endpoints. The test measures the concentration dependent response to the allergens providing a functional readout of the patients' allergies.
