Isolated REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (iRBD) is considered a prodrome of Parkinson's disease (PD). We investigate whether the potentially disease-modifying compound acetyl-DL-leucine (ADLL; 5 g/d) has an effect on prodromal PD progression in 2 iRBD-patients. Outcome parameters are RBD-severity sum-score (RBD-SS-3), dopamine-transporter single-photon emission computerized tomography (DAT-SPECT) and metabolic "Parkinson-Disease-related-Pattern (PDRP)"-z-score in F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET).

Background: The translocator protein (TSPO) has been proven to have great potential as a target for the positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of glioblastoma. However, there is an ongoing debate about the potential various sources of the TSPO PET signal. This work investigates the impact of the inoculation-driven immune response on the PET signal in experimental orthotopic glioblastoma.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a movement disorder characterized by neuroinflammation, α-synuclein pathology, and neurodegeneration. Most cases of PD are non-hereditary, suggesting a strong role for environmental factors, and it has been speculated that disease may originate in peripheral tissues such as the gastrointestinal (GI) tract before affecting the brain. The gut microbiome is altered in PD and may impact motor and GI symptoms as indicated by animal studies, although mechanisms of gut-brain interactions remain incompletely defined.

Background: Dopamine transporter (DAT) imaging of striatum is clinically used in Parkinson's disease (PD) and neurodegenerative parkinsonian syndromes (PS) especially in the early disease stages. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the recently developed tracer for DAT imaging [F]FE-PE2I PET/CT to the reference standard [I]FP-CIT SPECT.

Methods: Ninety-eight unselected patients referred for DAT imaging were included prospectively and consecutively and evaluated with [F]FE-PE2I PET/CT and [I]FP-CIT SPECT on two separate days.

Objective: To explore whether the characteristic responses to sound stimulations of the auditory neurons in the striatum is regulated in different behavioral states.

Methods: The auditory neurons in the striatum of awake C57BL/6J mice were selected for this study. We recorded the auditory response of the striatum to noises over a long period of time by building a synchronous electrophysiological and locomotion recording system and using glass microelectrode attachment recording.
