Environmental variation has long been considered a key driver of evolutionary change, predicted to shape different strategies, such as genetic specialization, plasticity, or bet-hedging to maintain fitness. However, little evidence is available with regards to how the periodicity of stressors may impact fitness across generations. To address this gap, I conducted a reciprocal split-brood experiment using the freshwater crustacean, Daphnia magna, and an ecologically relevant environmental stressor, ultraviolet radiation (UVR).

Objectives: Scabies infestation, caused by the mite, has recently emerged as a public health concern in Western nations, with increased incidence worldwide. In Bologna, Italy, local health authorities report a rise in scabies diagnoses, although detailed data are limited. This study aimed to analyse the temporal trends of scabies cases diagnosed at S.

Introduction: National malaria programmes must weigh the relative benefits of different vector control and elimination tools to prioritise resource allocation with the greatest impact. This study assesses the epidemiological and entomological impacts of piperonyl butoxide insecticide-treated nets (PBO ITN-only arm) compared with the combination of two annual non-pyrethroid indoor residual spraying (IRS) campaigns and standard pyrethroid ITNs (IRS+Standard Pyrethroid ITN arm) in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Methods: An open-label, stratified block-cluster randomised trial was designed to compare the impacts of the two intervention arms.

Mediterranean streams contain substantial proportions of wastewater treatment plant effluent, occasionally constituting the entire water flow. Here, we analysed the seasonal occurrence of 23 antibiotics (AB) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by tracking 3 marker genes and bacterial community dynamics in two wastewater effluent-dominated streams. One stream was renaturalized with meanders and vegetation, while the other was linear and had a low vegetation density.

Background: Although seasonal variations in CPAP-usage are often attributed to changes in temperature, no real-world study has evaluated the influence of temperature on long-term CPAP-usage.
Methods: The TempCPAP study is a retrospective real-life cohort study. Adult patients newly treated and undergoing at least 1 month of CPAP were included.
