In respect of professional nursing, the term scope of practice is regularly used, yet is often poorly defined both in Australia and internationally. This study explores the determinants of scope of practice from a national sample of Australian registered nurses using an online survey (Scope-QAu). This paper reports on two parts of a large cross-sectional survey wherein 1231 registered nurses in Australia provided data on how they determined their scope of practice. Scope of practice in the Australian nursing context is influenced by a range of professional publications, guidelines and standards, as well as professional peers and one's own judgement. Findings reveal that few demographic characteristics predicted the way nurses determined their own scope of practice. Nurses commonly relied upon three professional publications, peers and line managers, to establish their individual scope of practice. Impact statement: Registered nurses do not rely solely on professional guidelines or regulatory frameworks when determining their scope of practice.

A practical transition metal-free approach for the selective benzylation of NH-sulfoximines has been disclosed by using simple elemental iodine as the catalyst and -butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as the terminal oxidant. Comparing with known methods for the construction of -benzylated sulfoximines, our protocol shows broad substrate scope with respect to both diarylmethanes and alkylarenes, and can be conducted in air with good functional group tolerance.

Progress towards achieving global elimination of hepatitis B virus (HBV) by 2030 remains unsatisfactory. Prevention of mother to child transmission is crucial but current Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) gave diverse recommendations, creating confusion and leading to significant challenges in the practical implementation across various regions owing to global inequity. We reviewed 47 CPGs on the management of hepatitis B during pregnancy against twelve important clinical questions.

Objectives: This research describes four aspects of the development of the Sense of Safety Theoretical Framework for whole person care: exploring the meaning of the phrase "sense of safety"-the whole person ; the range of human experience that impacts sense of safety-whole person ; the dynamics that build sense of safety-the healing ; and the personal and cross-disciplinary trauma-informed practitioner that facilitate sense of safety.
Methods: This qualitative participatory study was conducted in two phases. Researchers iteratively explored the concept of sense of safety using focus groups and semi-structured interviews.

Tendon grafting is standard for treating tendon defects. Allografts are popular in cruciate ligament reconstruction but not yet in upper limb tendon reconstruction. A scoping review was conducted to map the existing practice of allograft use in hand surgery for tendon reconstruction and identify gaps in knowledge for future research.

Background: Literature reviews are essential in nursing for integrating research into practice, informing clinical guidelines and shaping health policy. They comprehensively synthesise the available evidence, supporting nurses in making informed decisions that improve patient care. It is therefore crucial when researchers are selecting the method most appropriate for investigating their clinical questions that they understand the different types of literature review.
