This is the case of a 70-year-old woman who presented to the emergency department complaining of 2 hours of acute-onset epigastric pain. She had experienced this pain once before which had spontaneously resolved. Axial imaging demonstrated the cecum in an abnormal position within the lesser sac, as well as compression of the inferior vena cava and portal vein. She was taken emergently to the operating room for laparotomy, where a free-floating cecum and ascending colon was identified without ischemia, and a right hemicolectomy was performed. Foramen of Winslow hernias are rare internal hernias with a high rate of strangulation and bowel ischemia, requiring urgent surgical intervention. Operative treatment depends on the type of herniated viscera. Spontaneous reduction is not well documented.

The Fe-N-C catalyst, featuring a single-atom Fe-N configuration, is regarded as one of the most promising catalytic materials for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). However, the significant activity difference under acidic and alkaline conditions of Fe-N-C remains a long-standing puzzle. In this work, using extensive ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations, we revealed that pH conditions influence ORR activity by tuning the surface charge density of the Fe-N-C surface, rather than through the direct involvement of HO or OH ions.

Renewable electricity-driven electrochemical reduction of CO2 offers a promising route for production of high-value ethanol. However, the current state of this technology is hindered by low selectivity and productivity, primarily due to limited understanding of the atomic-level active sites involved in ethanol formation. Herein, we identify that the interfacial oxygen vacancy-neighboring Cu (Ov-Cu) pair sites are the active sites for CO2 electroreduction to ethanol.

Background: The overexpression of HMGB1 at the maternal-fetal interface (MFI) is recognized as a significant factor in Unexplained Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion (URSA). This study aimed to investigate autophagy in the decidual tissues of URSA patients and to explore the relationship between HMGB1 and macrophage autophagy at the MFI in URSA.
Methods: Human decidual tissues were collected from 40 patients diagnosed with URSA and from 60 women undergoing active termination of pregnancy.

Case: We present 3 cases demonstrating radiographic posterior subluxation in lateral functional radiographs taken in the flexed-seated position. Two of the patients were asymptomatic, and 2 showed the posterior translation of the femoral head, which is almost a dislocation, with spontaneous reduction. The subluxation can occur not only in patients after lumbar fusion surgery but also in patients with relatively normal lumbar spine due to excessive hip flexion.

The hip spontaneously reduced before manual intervention, likely due to the block's analgesic and muscle-relaxing effects. Compared to other techniques, this block effectively targets hip innervation while sparing motor function.
