The authors became aware of a mistake in the original version of this Article. Specifically, where discussing the Curie temperature of the amorphous phase, T, in the 'Thermal characterization' section of the Results and in Fig. 2, the authors should have been discussing the Curie temperature of the magnetic crystalline phases T'. While the Curie temperature of the glass is lower than previously reported, this error does not affect the original discussion or conclusions of the Article. The authors apologize for the confusion caused by this mistake. In addition to this, there were errors in some of the equations in the main text, and the glass composition. A number of changes have been made in both the PDF and HTML versions of the Article to reflect these errors. A full list of these changes is available online.

In this work, the rare earth element Ce was incorporated into the A-site of SrBaNbO ferroelectric ceramics, which was prepared using the conventional solid state reaction method and sintered under different procedures. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to assess the impact of Ce doping and varying sintering procedures on both the relaxor characteristics and electrical properties of the ceramics. When sintered at 1300 °C for 4 h, the grains exhibited an isometric shape.

Large enhancement of ferroelectric properties of perovskite oxides via nitrogen incorporation.

Sci Adv

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Advanced Welding and Joining of Materials and Structures, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen 518055, China.

Perovskite oxides have a wide variety of physical properties that make them promising candidates for versatile technological applications including nonvolatile memory and logic devices. Chemical tuning of those properties has been achieved, to the greatest extent, by cation-site substitution, while anion substitution is much less explored due to the difficulty in synthesizing high-quality, mixed-anion compounds. Here, nitrogen-incorporated BaTiO thin films have been synthesized by reactive pulsed-laser deposition in a nitrogen growth atmosphere.

The synthesis of nanomaterials from PGPB is an exciting approach and it's often used in agriculture as nano-fertilizers and nano-pesticides. The present study reports a new approach to biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNP), using bacterial metabolites as agents to reduce Ag, which will remain as coating agents able to prevent microbial growth. Silver NP were biosynthesized using the bacterial metabolites produced by the beneficial strain Pseudomonas sp.

Carrier-Induced Room-Temperature Half-Metallicity in an Exfoliable Two-Dimensional Cr(TCNB) Metal-Organic Framework.

J Phys Chem Lett

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Precision and Intelligent Chemistry, School of Chemistry and Materials Science, CAS Key Laboratory of Materials for Energy Conversion, CAS Center for Excellence in Nanoscience, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui 230026, P.R. China.

Half-metallicity, enabling 100% spin polarization, is pivotal for spintronics but remains challenging to achieve in low-dimensional materials. Using first-principles calculations, we theoretically propose an experimentally feasible two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic framework (MOF) magnetic semiconductor, Cr(TCNB) (TCNB = 1,2,4,5-tetracyanobenzene). This monolayer can be exfoliated from a Ag(100) substrate due to its low exfoliation energy of 0.

Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) is one of the most investigated Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) for being the strongest compound to eliminate and having adverse health concerns. In this work, we have conducted the sonochemical treatment of PFOS simulated water under high (500 kHz) and low (22 kHz) frequencies while monitoring the operational parameters via an integrated sonochemical system. The integrated advanced sonochemical system includes software to monitor treatment power, solution temperature and frequency while allowing distinctive control of the reaction conditions.
