Mucous membrane of oral cavity is the first open section of the digestive system and respiratory tract, first mechanical barrier from penetration of infectious diseases pathogens and antigens, is always exposed to constant contamination and is forming the microecology of oral cavity and lower sections of digestive tract. Aim - to analyze the state of colonization resistance of the mucosa, microbiocenosis of the oral cavity, physico-chemical characteristics of the oral fluid in children with influenza stomatitis. Clinical and laboratory examination of 384 children with acute respiratory viral infections was made using clinical, microbiological, cytological methods of investigation. The conducted study allowed to distinguish 3 types of cytograms, each of which corresponds to the severity of disease. We found the relationship between the nature of microflora taken from the oral mucous membrane and the severity of acute respiratory viral infections, which shows signs of III-IV degree dysbiosis in patients with severe form of the disease. We diagnosed decrease of the stability indicators and the interval of pH waves indicating a decrease in the level of functional reserves of the oral cavity. Detected changes in the colonization resistance of oral mucous membrane and the microbiocenosis structure of oral cavity, acid-salt metabolism of the oral liquid in children with influenza stomatitis are the indicators of non-specific resistance of oral cavity mucous membrane.

This split-mouth trial investigated the efficacy of treating bilateral gingival recessions with either a xenogeneic cross-linked collagen matrix (CCM), or recombinant human platelet derived growth factor (rhPDGF-BB) with a bone allograft (AG). Ten patients were treated with the coronally advanced flap (CAF), either with a CCM, or rhPDGF-BB + AG. The primary outcome was percentage of mean root coverage (mRC) at 12 months.

A total of 40 otherwise healthy patients with generalized periodontitis, encompassing 1,168 sites with deep pockets, were included and baseline PPD, bleeding on probing (BOP), gingival recession (REC), clinical attachment level (CAL), and plaque index (PI) were recorded. Each patient underwent non-surgical laser-assisted periodontal therapy and was enrolled in a maintenance program with three-month recall visits during the first year of follow-up.

Purpose: The harmony between the lips and the chin is an essential parameter in facial esthetics, and the mentolabial sulcus (MLS) represents the level of this harmony. This study aimed to assess the effect of MLS depth on facial profile attractiveness in long-face, short-face, and normal-face Iranian female individuals.
Methods: An observational study with a questionnaire was conducted, and a profile photograph of an Iranian female with class I occlusion was altered to create long-face, normal-face and short-face profiles with MLS depth ranging from 1 to 12 mm.

Purpose: Oral mucositis (OM) reflects a complex interplay of several risk factors. Machine learning (ML) is a promising frontier in science, capable of processing dense information. This study aims to assess the performance of ML in predicting OM risk in patients undergoing head and neck radiotherapy.

Prozostrodontia is a clade of probainognathian cynodonts that exhibit several morphological innovations later inherited by mammals. The earliest representatives of this group have been found in the Upper Triassic deposits of southern Brazil. In this study, we report the discovery of a probainognathian cynodont from the Buriol site (São João do Polêsine, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), Hyperodapedon Assemblage Zone (Late Triassic).
