Purpose: To determine whether ectopic thyroid had the same computed tomography (CT) value as orthotopic thyroid.
Methods: Twenty-one patients with 23 ectopic thyroids and 23 controls with orthotopic thyroids underwent CT scans and were included in this retrospective study. The CT images were reviewed in a blinded fashion by two radiologists. Independent-Samples T-test was used for comparison of CT attenuation values between two groups.
Results: Ectopic thyroids had significantly lower non-enhanced attenuation (91.04 ± 5.97 Hounsfield Units vs. 106.56 ± 4.06 Hounsfield Units, P = 0.038) and contrast-enhanced attenuation (141.32 ± 6.42 Hounsfield Units vs. 169.82 ± 4.30 Hounsfield Units, P = 0.001) values than orthotopic thyroids.
Conclusions: Ectopic thyroids have lower CT attenuation values than orthotopic thyroids probably due to the structural or functional abnormalities. The dysgenesis and pathological changes of the ectopic thyroids may contribute to functional deficiency which finally leads to decrease of the CT attenuation values.

Background: Vinblastine is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent for various cancers. We report a case of transient congenital hypothyroidism following maternal exposure to vinblastine during the third trimester of pregnancy and propose possible mechanisms of action.
Method: We utilized the CARE guidelines to report the case.

BACKGROUND We present a rare case of an ectopic thyroid nodule hyperplasia, confirmed postoperatively after excision and histopathological examination of a chronic cervical mass. We discuss the different clinical and therapeutic features of this rare thyroid dysgenesis caused by a defect of migration of the gland along its normal way of descent. CASE REPORT A 48-year-old man with a history of hypertension and asthma presented with dysphagia and a progressively growing firm mass at the anterior part of his neck over the past 6 months.

An ectopic thyroid (ET) involves numerous scenarios of detection and outcomes, while its current management is not standardised. A mediastinal ET (MET) represents a low index of suspicion. In this paper, we introduce a 47-year-old female who was accidentally identified with an MET, and a modern surgical approach was provided.

Objectives: It was aimed to investigate the outcomes of babies referred to a tertiary health center in Turkey for evaluation primary congenital hypothyroidism (CH) through newborn screening.
Methods: The hospital files of 328 newborns who were referred for CH from newborn screening between June 2013 and June 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. The newborns were evaluated with their clinical characteristics at admission, as well as their follow-up data and final diagnoses.
