Background: Sexually transmitted Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection is a known risk factor for cancer of the anal canal in both men and women.
Case Presentation: We describe a report of synchronous carcinoma of the anal canal in a heterosexual couple. High risk type 16 HPV DNA was detected in both tumors.
Conclusion: Longstanding sexual partners may share risk of HPV-associated anal canal cancer.
