Bioassay-guided fractionation of the supernatant of the biocontrol strain Bacillus amyloliquefaciens W1 led to the isolation of eight acaricidal cyclodipeptides from the active fractions by column chromatography separation and HPLC purification. The chemical structures of these compounds were identified as cyclo-(Gly-l-Phe), 2, cyclo-(l-Phe- trans-4-OH-l-Pro), 3, cyclo-(Gly-l-Tyr), 4, cyclo-(l-Ala-l-Pro), 5, cyclo-(l-Pro- trans-4-OH-l-Pro), 6, cyclo-(Gly-l-Pro), 7, cyclo-(l-Pro-l-Pro), 8, and cyclo-(l-Tyr- trans-4-OH-l-Pro), 9. Those cyclodipeptides displayed significant acaricidal activities with LC values of 13.85-98.24 μM. Cyclo-(l-Tyr- trans-4-OH-l-Pro) (LC 13.85 μM) was five times more effective than the positive control abamectin (LC 72.06 μM). The results indicated that the hydroxyl group is an important component. This is the first report on the acaricidal capabilities of cyclodipeptides against Tetranychus urticae. The results revealed that the acaricidal activity of the biocontrol strain B. amyloliquefaciens W1 was dependent on its constituent cyclodipeptides, which have the potential to be safe and environmentally friendly acaricides.

The saffron bulb mite, Rhizoglyphus robini Claparede (Acari: Acaridae), is the most important pest of the saffron crop in Iran. This pest attacks and feeds on saffron corms. For this reason, the corms are treated with acaricides before planting.

Amphitetranychus viennensis, a destructive pest mite of fruit plants in Europe and Asia, poses a serious challenge due to its adaptability and resistance to multiple acaricides. RNA interference (RNAi)-based technologies offer a promising alternative to address this emerging issue. In this study, we screened for candidate genes that can be targeted for spray-induced gene silencing (SIGS).

, a highly destructive global pest, infests a wide range of plant species, including crucial food crops and ornamental plants. Effective control methods for this pest remain limited. Chitin synthase (CHS) is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of chitin, which is essential for the growth and development of arthropods.

The cattle tick Rhipicephalus microplus is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions, causing substantial economic losses due to its resistance to conventional acaricides. There is an urgent need to identify safe and effective new acaricidal agents. Essential oils and their volatile compounds are promising alternatives.

Background: A recent increase in severe fever with thrombocytopaenia syndrome (SFTS) virus cases in Korea has been observed. This virus attacks humans and animals, and no drug is available for its treatment. This study is investigating potential control measures targeting the causative agent, Haemaphysalis longicornis.
