Generalized phase compensator of continuous time plants. | LitMetric

Generalized phase compensator of continuous time plants.

Published: October 2018

This work proposes a novel design method for generalized order lead/lag compensators. With respect to the traditional lead/lag compensator, it introduces a new parameter, β, which is a non-integer number. A new design method of the compensator is introduced in order to quantify its design parameters. Compared to its integer order counterpart, the generalized order lead compensator facilitates with the unique solution of desired design specifications with maximum phase at the desired gain cross-over frequency to achieve reshaping of the loop frequency domain characteristics. On the other hand, generalized order lag compensator is designed so as to allow minimum phase lag at the new gain crossover frequency. Examples with simulation and real-time results are presented to validate the efficacy of the proposed approach.

Objective: Dyspnea is commonly experienced in adults who are young and have different health conditions (asthma, obesity, panic disorders) and may impede not only physical exertion but also cognitive function such as visual attention. To test this, visual attention was evaluated using the Multiple Object Tracking Test (MOT) alone and combined with low or moderate inspiratory threshold loading (ITL).

Methods: Using a pretest-posttest design, we evaluated 25 participants who were healthy and 19 to 31 years old.

CAS Key Laboratory of Nano-Bio Interface, Division of Nanobiomedicine and i-Lab, Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Suzhou, 215123, China.

Among the unique classes of 2D nanomaterials, 2D protein arrays garner increasing attention due to their remarkable structural stability, exceptional physiochemical properties, and tunable electronic and mechanical attributes. The interest in mimicking and surpassing the precise architecture and advanced functionality of natural protein systems drives the field of 2D protein assembly toward the development of sophisticated functional materials. Recent advancements deepen the understanding of the fundamental principles governing 2D protein self-assembly, accelerating the creation of novel functional biomaterials.

Synthetic antiferromagnetic (AF) pinned layers are widely used in order to reduce the stray field of the pinned layer and stabilize the magnetic alignment of the reference layer in perpendicular magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs). Here, a detailed study of Re concentration dependence of the magnitude of interlayer exchange coupling (|J|) in a synthetic AF system with an Ir-Re interlayer is conducted. We observed strong AF interlayer exchange coupling caused by small amounts of Re addition and phase shift of the AF peak to thinner interlayer region in synthetic AF systems with Ir-Re interlayer.

Regulations for dredging and sediment management often require the use of toxicity tests to support sediment classification, together with chemical characterization; among available bioassays, embryotoxicity tests (conducted on aqueous phase prepared from sediment) are commonly applied to evaluate sub-chronic toxicity, as in the case of Italian legislation. However, toxicity tests can be influenced by several confounding factors, such as ammonia that, in the context of sediment management, generally is not considered as a "traditional" contaminant of concern due to its low persistence. In order to better address and optimize sediment management, it is therefore essential to understand the influence of ammonia on the observed sediment toxicity.

The objective of this study was to develop a scheme to predict intestinal and plasma concentration-time profiles of the weakly basic BCS-II drug, Dipyridamole (DPD), using an Artificial Gut Simulator (AGS) integrated with a compartment-based disposition model. In vivo data for this study was obtained from previously published literature. A 3-compartment disposition model was developed using the plasma concentration-time profile of DPD following an intravenous bolus dose.
