Complex momentum behavior of electronic excitations in -CuPc.

Published: August 2018

The electronic excitation spectrum of -CuPc has been investigated using electron energy-loss spectroscopy in transmission. Our results demonstrate a rather strong momentum dependence of the lowest exciton features. Both main components show a negative dispersion, and the momentum dependence indicates that this negative dispersion is parallel to the molecular stacks in -CuPc. In addition, the spectral shape also varies upon increasing momentum transfer indicating a particular momentum dependence of the inter-molecular interactions.

Optical vortices possess a helical phase wavefront with central phase dislocation and orbital angular momentum. We demonstrated three-dimensional microstructure formation using a femtosecond optical vortex beam. Two-photon polymerization of photocurable resin was induced by long-term exposure, resulting in the fabrication of cylindrical structures.

Amphiphilic copolymers of comb-like poly(poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate) (PPEGMA) with methyl methacrylate (MMA) synthesized by one-pot atom transfer radical polymerization were mixed with lithium bis (trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide salt to formulate dry solid polymer electrolytes (DSPE) for semisolid-state Li-ion battery applications. The PEO-type side chain length (EO monomer's number) in the PEGMA macromonomer units was varied, and its influence on the mechanical and electrochemical characteristics was investigated. It was found that the copolymers, due to the presence of PMMA segments, possess viscoelastic behavior and less change in mechanical properties than a PEO homopolymer with 100 kDa molecular weight in the investigated temperature range.

Transmission-type plasmonic phase metasurfaces utilizing the Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phase require constant transmittivity with complete phase variation from 0 to 2π. Usually, this is achieved by rotating metallic nanoparticles in an otherwise uniform lattice arrangement. However, this rotation and the chosen lattice structure cause a significant change in the transmittivity, resulting in a lower intensity of light with certain phases and a higher intensity for other phases.

Background: The utilization of PD1 and CTLA4 inhibitors has revolutionized the treatment of malignant melanoma (MM). However, resistance to targeted and immune-checkpoint-based therapies still poses a significant problem.

Objective: Here, we mine large-scale MM proteogenomic data to identify druggable targets and forecast treatment efficacy and resistance.

Electronic coherences are key to understanding and controlling photoinduced molecular transformations. We identify a crucial quantum-mechanical feature of electron-nuclear correlation, the projected nuclear quantum momenta, essential to capture the correct coherence behavior. For simulations, we show that, unlike traditional trajectory-based schemes, exact-factorization-based methods approximate these correlation terms and correctly capture electronic coherences in a range of situations, including their spatial dependence, an important aspect that influences subsequent electron dynamics and that is becoming accessible in more experiments.
