Gaseous transmitters contribution in blood oxygen transport function modification under the influence of the magnetic field was studied. It is found, that irradiation of the tail artery of rats for 10 days during 10 minutes increases p50 value, indicating a decrease in the hemoglobin affinity for oxygen and is accompanied by increased concentrations of nitrate/nitrite, and hydrogen sulfide. Administration of L-arginine and nitroglycerin during magnetic field action is accompanied by a decrease of hemoglobin affinity for oxygen, which is absent when NO-synthase enzyme inhibitor (L-NAME) is added. These data suggest an important role in the formation of blood oxygen transport function such gaseous transmitters as nitrogen monoxide and hydrogen sulfide.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS) is considered one of the most important gaseous transmitters in the metabolic system, and the abnormal concentration of HS is associated with a variety of diseases. Up to now, it is still a challenge to develop a portable assay for HS even though the research about the detection of HS is booming. Herein, a novel bifunctional dialdehyde-cellulose fluorescent probe DAC-DPD was prepared with high selectivity and sensitivity to HS with colorimetric and fluorescent "turn-on" characteristics, and the limit of detection (LOD) of DAC-DPD for HS was 0.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a molecule involved in plasticity across levels and systems. The role of NOergic pathways in stress-induced sensitization (SIS) of behavioral responses, in which a particular stressor triggers a state of hyper-responsiveness to other stressors after an incubation period, was assessed in adult zebrafish. In this model, adult zebrafish acutely exposed to a fear-inducing conspecific alarm substance (CAS) and left undisturbed for an incubation period show increased anxiety-like behavior 24 h after exposure.

The sulfide-hydrogen sulfide brine balneotherapy (HSBB), including a combination of dissolved hydrogen sulfide (HS) gas, inorganic sulfur ions (S), and hydrosulfide ions (HS), is one of the most important and most effective forms of spa treatment in patients with osteoarticular disorders (OADs). Some cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are often considered to be contraindications to HSBB since the presence of thiol groups may lead to an increased quantity of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which damage the vascular endothelium, and endothelial dysfunction is considered to be the main cause of atherosclerosis. However, there are a number of literature reports suggesting this theory to be false.
