Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancers in men worldwide. Autophagy-related genes (ARGs) may play an important role in various biological processes of PCa. The aim of this study was to identify and evaluate autophagy-related features to predict clinical outcomes in patients with PCa.

Background: Heart failure (HF) guidelines recommend routine testing for iron deficiency (ID) and, for those with ID, intravenous iron if the left ventricular ejection fraction is <50%. Guideline adherence to these recommendations by cardiologists in China is unknown.

Methods And Results: An independent academic web-based survey was designed and distributed via social networks to cardiologists across China.

Neuroplasticity in the motor cortex following the achievement of sufficient motor learning.

Neurosci Lett

January 2025

Laboratory of Neurorehabilitation, Department of Occupational Therapy, Biwako Professional University of Rehabilitation, 967 Kitasaka, Higashiomi, Shiga 527-0145, Japan.

Skilled motor training causes the cortical representation of the trained body parts to expand into regions of the motor cortex related to other body parts. However, the effect of neuroplastic changes on the neurons originally existing within the expanded area is not well understood. In this study, the extent of the neuroplastic changes after achieving sufficient motor learning and the impact of the expansion on the neurons related to movements of other body parts were investigated.

Enhanced prediction of partial nitrification-anammox process in wastewater treatment by developing an attention-based deep learning network.

J Environ Manage

January 2025

School of Artificial Intelligence, Xidian University, No. 2 South Taibai Road, Xi'an, Shaanxi, 710071, China.

In the process of partial nitrification and anaerobic ammonia oxidation (anammox) for nitrogen removal, the process offers simple metabolic pathways, low operating costs, and high nitrogenous loading rates. However, since the partial nitrification-anammox (PN-anammox) process combines partial nitrification and anammox reactions within the same reactor, strict control of dissolved oxygen (DO) is essential. Additionally, assessing treatment performance through chemical measurement involves time lag, making it challenging to recover the biological process when issue arise, especially in the PN-anammox process, where strict DO control and the sensitivity of anammox bacteria to conditions and substrates demand timely intervention.

Data-driven prediction of chemically relevant compositions in multi-component systems using tensor embeddings.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Kyoto University, Sakyo, Kyoto, 606-8501, Japan.

The discovery of novel materials is crucial for developing new functional materials. This study introduces a predictive model designed to forecast complex multi-component oxide compositions, leveraging data derived from simpler pseudo-binary systems. By applying tensor decomposition and machine learning techniques, we transformed pseudo-binary oxide compositions from the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD) into tensor representations, capturing key chemical trends such as oxidation states and periodic positions.
