Purpose: To assess the ultrasonographic features affect accuracy of extrathyroid extension (ETE) evaluation on preoperative ultrasonography (US) in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC).
Methods: Of the total patients who underwent thyroid surgery, 516 patients with a tumor measuring less than 1 cm on preoperative US were enrolled in this study. One blinded head and neck radiologist reviewed the preoperative US images to evaluate the US features of PTMC, and the pathologic reports were reviewed. The diagnostic accuracy rates, including sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy, were calculated, and the factors associated with false-negative and false-positive results for ETE were analyzed.
Results: The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and accuracy for predicting ETE according to sonographic criteria were 32.8%, 87.5%, 51.0%, 76.6%, and 71.7%, respectively. Non-adjacent to the trachea and unilateral lesion on US were significant factors associated with false-negative results.
Conclusion: Size, shape, and location of PTMC on US are important factors that affect the US results in ETE evaluation.

Background: Early posttransplant cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in CMV seronegative solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) with CMV seronegative donors (D-/R-) are often attributed transfusion-transmitted CMV. The prevalence of false-negative donor CMV serology in D-/R- SOTR with early CMV infections has not been explored.
Methods: We determined the frequency and characteristics of CMV DNAemia that occurred within 90 days of transplant among adult SOTR classified as D-/R- who underwent a first SOT at a single center between February 25, 2014 and February 25, 2024.

Electrochemical biosensors are gaining attention as powerful tools in cancer diagnosis, particularly in liquid biopsy, due to their high efficiency, rapid response, exceptional sensitivity, and specificity. However, the complexity of intra- and intertumor heterogeneity, with variations in genetic and protein expression profiles and epigenetic modifications, makes electrochemical biosensors susceptible to false-positive or false-negative diagnostic outcomes. To address this challenge, there is growing interest in simultaneously analyzing multiple biomarkers to reveal molecular characteristics of tumor heterogeneity for precise cancer diagnosis.

Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) using radioisotope tracer plus blue dye is the gold standard after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in initially cN1 breast cancer patients, but clinical use still has limitations. This study aims to examine diagnostic performance of dual indocyanine green (ICG) and methylene blue tracing for SLNB in patients who have completed NAC for breast cancer with initially cN1 disease.
Methods: Adult women (20-80 years of age) scheduled to undergo NAC for biopsy-proven cT0-3N1M0 primary invasive breast cancer were consecutively enrolled in this prospective, multicenter, cohort study.

The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is the screening tool for perinatal depression, and its cut-off score varies according to context and population. In Cameroon, no study has yet defined a cut-off score or the prevalence of perinatal depression in adolescent mothers. Our aim is to determine the cut-off for teenage mothers in Cameroon.

Objective: To develop a model for accurate prediction of axillary lymph node (LN) status after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer patients with nodal involvement.
Methods: Between October 2018 and February 2024, 671 breast cancer patients with biopsy-proven LN metastasis who received NAC followed by axillary LN dissection were enrolled in this prospective, multicenter study. Preoperative ultrasound (US) images, including B-mode ultrasound (BUS) and shear wave elastography (SWE), were obtained.
