Highly effective and efficient remediation of hazardous Ni waste from electroless electroplating wastewater remains a significant challenge. However, rather than regarding it as hazardous waste, Ni-electroplating wastewater can instead be considered a huge resource of Ni. Herein, we report a convenient hydrothermal strategy for upcycling Ni from nickel-electroplating wastewater into a carbon-doped Ni-P alloy (denoted as C/Ni-P) electrocatalyst for the oxidation of glycerol to formate.

Development of sustainable synthesis methods of organic electrode materials (OEMs) for sodium (Na)-ion batteries must take hold rapidly in large scale-synthesis if subsequent commercialisation is to occur. We report a facile and rapid gram-scale synthesis method based on microwave irradiation for disodium naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate (Na-NDC) and mono/disodium benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate (Na-BDC) as model compounds. Phase purity and formation of materials was confirmed by various characterisation techniques.

Background: Huntington disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes psychiatric and neurological symptoms, including involuntary and irregular muscle movements (chorea). Chorea can disrupt activities of daily living, pose safety issues, and may lead to social withdrawal. The vesicular monoamine transporter 2 inhibitors tetrabenazine, deutetrabenazine, and valbenazine are approved treatments that can reduce chorea.

Aims: To establish the feasibility of using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to estimate total quantities of Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) used across different forms of cannabis, and to assess the predictive validity of THC estimates for predicting acute cannabis-related consequences.
Design: 14-day EMA using a smartphone application to assess cannabis use in real time.

Pleurotin (1) is a benzoquinone meroterpenoid known for its wide-spectrum antitumor and antibiotic activities, notably acting as natural inhibitors of the thioredoxin reductase (TrxR). Pleurotin (1) has been chemically synthesized, but only in milligram quantities through at least 13 longest linear steps with 0.8 % overall yield due to its complex structure such as fused hexacyclic core with 8 contiguous stereocenters.
