Metabolic changes have been correlated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. The aim of the present study is to determine the TyG and TG/HDL-c indices in a cohort of healthy pregnant ( = 142), preeclamptic ( = 18), and healthy nonpregnant women ( = 56). Preeclamptic women were selected from the same cohort. Pregnant women were followed during three periods of pregnancy and postpartum. The results showed a significant increase in the values of TyG and TG/HDL-c ( < 0.01) as pregnancy progresses, without significant differences between healthy and preeclamptic women. TyG and TG/HDL-c indices are significantly low in nonpregnant and three months' postpartum women when compared with each gestational period studied. TyG and TG/HDL-c indices are positively correlated with HOMA-IR in the early and middle pregnancy ( < 0.05). Multiple linear regression using the TyG and TG/HDL-c indices as dependent variables showed that TyG index was significantly associated with HOMA-IR, gestational age, HDL-c, TC, LDL, fasting insulin, and mean BP ( < 0.001); meanwhile, TG/HDL-c index was only associated with HOMA-IR ( < 0.0242) and gestational age ( < 0.001). In conclusion, the TyG and TG/HDL-c indices could be useful in monitoring insulin resistance during pregnancy.

Background: The triglycerides to Apolipoprotein A1 ratio (TG/APOA1) holds promise to be a more valuable index of insulin resistance for the diagnosis of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aims to evaluate the correlation between TG/APOA1 and MAFLD, as well as compare the efficacy of TG/APOA1 with triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TG/HDL-c) and triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index in identifying MAFLD among individuals with T2DM.
Method: This study consecutively recruited 779 individuals with T2DM for the investigation.

Aims: The relationship between the incidence of major cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and estimated glucose disposal rate (eGDR), a proxy measurement for insulin resistance (IR), is not well understood in the general population. The predictive value of eGDR and other proxies of IR for CVD incidents have not been examined in previous studies. This study aimed to investigate the association between eGDR and various CVD events, including myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF), atrial fibrillation (AF) and ischemic stroke.

Background: Blood pressure (BP) is linearly related to the incidence of cardiovascular disease from values as low as 115/75mmHg, even at young ages. A particularly concerning issue is the decrease representation of optimal BP among children and youth. The mechanisms by which minimal elevations in BP increase cardiovascular risk are not defined.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the associations between noninsulin-dependent insulin resistance indices (NI-IRIs), including the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, TyG-BMI, triglyceride-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TG/HDL-C), and metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR), as well as the occurrence of restenosis in patients with lower extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease after drug-coated balloon (DCB) treatment.
Methods: The primary endpoint was restenosis within one year after the procedure, which was defined as ≥ 50% stenosis of the treated artery segment. The association between NI-IRIs and restenosis was assessed via multivariable logistic regression analysis.

Background: The estimated glucose disposal rate (eGDR), triglyceride glucose (TyG), triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio, and metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR) are dependent indicators of insulin resistance (IR). We aimed to evaluate the association between these indicators and the current or feature incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in middle-aged and elderly individuals. This study tests the hypothesis that IR indices positively or negatively correlate with CVD, and that the potential predictive performance of the IR indices was not the same.
