We present a case of an otherwise healthy infant with a localized patch of phylloid hypopigmentation bordered by terminal hairs on the back. We believe that this is a unique clinical entity and propose the term "phylloid terminal hair nevus." We believe that this is a localized form of phylloid hypomelanosis that is not associated with extracutaneous abnormalities.

Background: The histological hallmark of male androgenetic alopecia (MAGA) is transformation of terminal follicles into miniaturized secondary-vellus follicles. As the volume of the dermal papilla determines the size of the hair bulb and hair fibre diameter, any treatment induced increase in fibre diameter could be used as a proxy for reversal of hair follicle miniaturization. While clinical trials with minoxidil topical solution in MAGA do not demonstrate increased fibre diameter, vellus-to-terminal reconversion is shown in a humanized mouse model treated with MXL.

: Minoxidil, in addition to its vasodilatory effect, has also immunomodulatory properties that may be partially responsible for its efficacy in alopecia areata. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of monotherapy with topical or oral minoxidil in alopecia areata. : A systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy of monotherapy with minoxidil in alopecia areata was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines.

The refinement of neural circuits towards mature function is driven during development by patterned spontaneous calcium-dependent electrical activity. In the auditory system, this sensory-independent activity arises in the pre-hearing cochlea and regulates the survival and refinement of the auditory pathway. However, the origin and interplay of calcium signals during cochlear development is unknown in vivo.

The root epidermis of Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) consists of two distinct cell types: hair (H) cells and non-hair (N) cells, whose patterning is regulated by a network of genes. Among these, the WEREWOLF (WER) gene, encoding an R2R3 MYB transcription factor, acts as a master regulator by promoting the expression of key downstream genes, such as GLABRA2 and CAPRICE. However, the mechanisms controlling WER expression have remained largely unexplored.

Hair is a ubiquitous and robust mammalian tissue with biological, clinical, forensic, social, and economic significance. The hair shaft proteome reflects both structural proteins, dominated by cuticular intermediate filament keratins and associated proteins, and proteins involved in the final cellular processes of terminally differentiating corneocytes prior to cornification. These distinct biological processes involve cell maintenance, biosynthesis, senescence, and xenobiotic response.
