Improving the activity and stability of enzymes is significant in enzyme immobilization. Here a facile approach to prepare ring-like ZIF-8 colloidosomes and spherical catalase-embedded ZIF-8 colloidosomes is developed via one-step emulsion-based technique at the water/butanol interface. The influence of the concentrations of ZIF-8 nanocrystals and Pluronic F127 as well as the oil-water ratio was investigated. Compared with in situ biomineralization, the colloidosomes prepared via the pickering emulsion method show successful encapsulation of positively charged enzymes. By using catalase as an immobilized model, the immobilized catalase exhibits high biocatalytic activity, stability and recyclability compared with free catalase.

The functional properties of tetraaryl compounds, M(aryl) (M = transition metal or group 14 element), are dictated not only by their common tetrahedral geometry but also by their central atom. The identity of this atom may serve to modulate the reactivity, electrochemical, magnetic, and optical behavior of the molecular species, or of extended materials built from appropriate tetraaryl building blocks, but this has not yet been systematically evaluated. Toward this goal, here we probe the influence of Os(IV), C, and Si central atoms on the spectroelectrochemical properties of a series of redox-active tetra(ferrocenylaryl) complexes.

The cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA4) is essential in controlling T cell activity within the immune system. Thus, uncovering the molecular dynamics of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the CTLA4 gene is critical. Climate change and human activity are increasing the frequency of wildfires in peatlands and threatening permafrost peatland carbon pools. In Northeast China, low-severity prescribed fires are conducted annually on permafrost peatlands to reduce the risk of wildfires. These fires typically do not burn surface peat but lead to the loss of surface vegetation and introduction of pyrogenic carbon.
