This article discusses the recommended vaccines used before and after solid organ transplant period, including data regarding vaccine safety and efficacy and travel-related vaccines. Vaccination is an important part of the preparation for solid organ transplantation, because vaccine-preventable diseases contribute to the morbidity and mortality of these patients. A pretransplantation protocol should be encouraged in every transplant center. The main goal of vaccination is to provide seroprotection before transplantation, because iatrogenically immunosuppressed patients posttransplant have a lower seroresponse to vaccines.

Background: This study aims to analyze the patient characteristics, clinical outcomes, and contemporary trends concerning type A aortic dissection (TAAD) in previous recipients of abdominal solid organ transplantation (ASOT) in the United States.
Methods: The National Inpatient Sample was queried to identify all patients aged ≥18 with TAAD and a history of ASOT (TAAD-ASOT) between 2002 and 2015Q3 using ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes. Baseline characteristics and in-hospital outcomes were compared between TAAD-ASOT patients and TAAD patients without a history of ASOT (TAAD-non-ASOT).

Background: Central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) is a preventable complication of central venous catheters (CVC) that can result in prolonged hospitalization, increased cost, and mortality.
Local Problem: CLABSI rates in a solid organ transplant unit were above the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators target.
Methods: Evidence-based CLABSI prevention interventions were implemented using the Plan-Do-Study-Act process.

Lateral roots (LRs) can continuously forage water and nutrients from soil. In Arabidopsis thaliana, LR development depends on a canonical auxin signaling pathway involving the core transcription factors INDOLE-3-ACETIC ACIDs (IAAs) and AUXIN RESPONSE FACTORs (ARFs). In this study, we identified a protein, bacillolysin, secreted by the beneficial rhizobacterium Bacillus velezensis SQR9, that is able to stimulate LR formation of Arabidopsis.

Liquid biopsies represent a promising and minimally invasive approach to diagnosing and monitoring cancer. In recent years, studies across a multitude of solid organ malignancies have suggested the clinical utility of biomarkers such as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). Particular attention has been given to serial assessment of such biomarkers in an effort to detect minimal residual disease (MRD), in order to predict which patients may be at highest risk of relapse following curative-intent surgical or medical intervention.

Cordycepin, a natural adenosine derivative, exhibits multiple pharmacological effects on organisms. However, its distribution and metabolic characteristics have not been fully elucidated in vivo. In this study, ultra-high liquid chromatography tandem high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS/MS) was used to investigate the pharmacokinetic characteristics and effects of cordycepin on endogenous adenosine and inosine.
