We evaporate aqueous suspensions in a microchamber to explore the connection between the morphology of the nanoparticle deposits at nanometer resolutions and at micrometer and hundreds of micrometers resolutions. Repulsive or weakly attractive electrical double-layer and van der Waals surface forces render the deposition of detached particles and small aggregates at nanometer resolutions. However, strongly attractive surface forces render the dense deposition of large aggregates. At greater length resolutions, the deposit morphology is further governed by evaporation-mediated transport of particles in the volatile suspension. We use experiment and theory to show that the contributions of the different mechanisms to the deposit morphology are mediated by particle coagulation and by particle adsorption to the substrate. The nanometer deposit morphology and particle transport render the morphology of the deposits at greater length resolutions, where it may take the shape of crude or smooth particulate micropatterns or continuous particulate coating layers.

In vivo, ApoE-/- atherosclerosis mouse models were established for group intervention. Blood lipid levels of the mice were measured, lipid deposition and autophagy levels in atherosclerotic plaques were assessed, and co-localization of lipid droplets and autophagosomes was examined.

The earliest representatives of this group have been found in the Upper Triassic deposits of southern Brazil. The cuticle, an extracellular hydrophobic layer impregnated with waxy lipids, serves as the primary interface between plant leaves and their environment and is thus subject to external cues. A previous study on poplar leaves revealed that environmental conditions outdoors promoted the deposition of about 10-fold more cuticular wax compared to the highly artificial climate of a growth chamber. Given that light was the most significant variable distinguishing the two locations, we hypothesized that the quantity of light might serve as a key driver of foliar wax accumulation.

The preparation and study of synthetic mesoscale structures opens opportunities to understand soft materials properties at length scales that are intermediate between that of the molecular and bulk, often referred to as the mesoscale. This paper details the preparation of mesoscale polymer filaments, prepared by flow coating and evaporative deposition from solution to yield filamentous versions of charged polymers. Using thiol-ene reactions on olefin-containing mesoscale polymer ribbons, anionic character in the form of carboxylates is introduced to the filamentous structures.
