Where do the pyrene molecules reside within the surface active ionic liquid micelles in presence of sodium alginate?

Spectrochim Acta A Mol Biomol Spectrosc

December 2024

Department of Chemistry, Presidency University, Kolkata 700073, India. Electronic address:

Pyrene fluorescence in aqueous solutions of two surface active ionic liquids, namely, 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, and 1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride was investigated in presence of a biopolymer sodium alginate. The principal objective of this study was to explore the influence of the length of the hydrocarbon tails of these surface active ionic liquids on the possible location of the probe (pyrene) molecules in presence of the additive. While an abrupt decrease in the values of the ratio of the intensity of the first vibronic band to that of the third band of pyrene emission spectrum with concentration was observed for 1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride in presence of sodium alginate like the polymer-free case reported earlier, there was a peculiar reversal for 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride + sodium alginate.

Theoretical and experimental research on the impacts of the Joukowsky hydrofoils on the bubble collapse dynamics within a confined space.

Ultrason Sonochem

January 2025

College of Mechanical and Transportation Engineering, China University of Petroleum-Beijing, Beijing 102249, China; Beijing Key Laboratory of Process Fluid Filtration and Separation, China University of Petroleum-Beijing, Beijing 102249, China.

The present paper investigates the bubble collapse dynamics near hydrofoils within a confined space. Experiments involving high-speed photography reveal in detail the typical bubble morphological evolution near different hydrofoils between two glass plates (namely the confined space), and the partitioning of the thickness-related and camber-related parameters is analyzed quantitatively. Based on conformal transformation, the liquid velocity field and Kelvin impulse are used to analyze the bubble collapse characteristics qualitatively and quantitatively, including the bubble interface motion, cross-sectional roundness, and collapse jet.

Improved Bald Eagle Search Optimization Algorithm for the Inverse Kinematics of Robotic Manipulators.

Biomimetics (Basel)

October 2024

Key Laboratory of Metallurgical Equipment and Control Technology of Ministry of Education, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan 430081, China.

The inverse kinematics of robotic manipulators involves determining an appropriate joint configuration to achieve a specified end-effector position. This problem is challenging because the inverse kinematics of manipulators are highly nonlinear and complexly coupled. To address this challenge, the bald eagle search optimization algorithm is introduced.

The assembly of metal-organic cages is governed by metal ion coordination preferences and the geometries of the typically rigid and planar precursor ligands. PdL cages are among the most structurally diverse, with subtle differences in the metal-ligand coordination vectors resulting in drastically different assemblies, however almost all rely on rigid aromatic linkers to avoid the formation of intractable mixtures. Here we exploit the inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reaction between tetrazine linker groups and alkene reagents to trigger structural changes induced by post-assembly modification.

Orphan nuclear estrogen-related receptor γ (ERRγ) has been recognized as a potential therapeutic target for cancer, inflammation and metabolic disorder. The ERRγ contains a regulatory AF2 helical tail linked C-terminally to its ligand-binding domain (LBD), which is a self-binding peptide (SBP) and serves as molecular switch to dynamically regulate the receptor alternation between active and inactive states by binding to and unbinding from the AF2-binding site on ERRγ LBD surface, respectively. Traditional ERRγ modulators are all small-molecule chemical ligands that can be classified into agonists and inverse agonists in terms of their action mechanism; the agonists stabilize the AF2 in ABS site with an agonist conformation, while the inverse agonists lock the AF2 out of the site to largely abolish ERRγ transcriptional activity.
