Currently in wheat breeding, genome wide association studies (GWAS) have successfully revealed the genetic basis of complex traits such as nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and its biological processes. In the GWAS model, thresholding is common strategy to indicate deviation of expected range of -(s), and it can be used to find the distribution of true positive associations under or over of test statistics. Therefore, the threshold plays a critical role to identify reliable and significant associations in wide genome, while the proportion of false positive results is relatively low.

The subject of investigating causation in ecology has been widely discussed in recent years, especially by advocates of a structural causal model (SCM) approach. Some of these advocates have criticized the use of predictive models and model selection for drawing inferences about causation. We argue that the comparison of model-based predictions with observations is a key step in hypothetico-deductive (H-D) science and remains a valid approach for assessing causation.

The impact of diabetes on incident cardiovascular disease in relation to the extent of atherosclerotic disease remains unclear. We aimed to investigate major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with or without type 2 diabetes (T2DM) presenting with two extremes of atherosclerotic disease, those with angiographically documented minor coronary atherosclerotic lesions and those with symptomatic peripheral artery disease. We included 1238 patients from two prospective, long-term cohort studies.

Background: Heart rate variability (HRV) is governed by of sympathetic and parasympathetic regulatory systems. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may influence these systems and consequently affect cardiovascular functioning.
Methods: The sample consisted of 860 UK male military personnel approximately half of who had sustained physical combat injuries in Afghanistan.

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of mortality worldwide. This category includes cerebrovascular disease, ischemic heart disease, and peripheral vascular disease. Secondary prevention is effective for patients with a history of cardiovascular events, with antihypertensives, statins, and acetylsalicylic acid being the most prescribed drugs.
