Predictive value and optimal cut-off level of high-sensitivity troponin T in patients with acute pulmonary embolism.

Korean J Intern Med

January 2025

Division of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine, Gyeongsang National University Hospital, Gyeongsang National University School of Medicine, Jinju, Korea.

Background/aims: Elevated troponin levels predict in-hospital mortality and influence decisions regarding thrombolytic therapy in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE). However, the usefulness of high-sensitivity troponin T (hsTnT) regarding PE remains uncertain. We aimed to establish the optimal cut-off level and compare its performance for precise risk stratification.

Threonine and tyrosine kinase (TTK) mRNA and protein expression in breast cancer; prognostic significance in the neoadjuvant setting.

Histopathology

January 2025

Division of Molecular Medicine, Leeds Institute of Medical Research, St James's University Hospital, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK.

Aims: Threonine and tyrosine kinase (TTK) is up-regulated in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), yet its expression in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) remains unexplored. This investigation aims to assess TTK protein expression in treatment-naïve pre-treatment cores and paired pre- and post-NACT breast cancer (BC) cohorts, as well as its correlation with microcephaly 1 (MCPH1) protein expression.

Methods And Results: Transcriptomic data were sourced from the Gene Expression Omnibus microarray database for mRNA expression analysis.

Pathogenesis of Toxoplasma gondii in the intermediate host is based on the tachyzoite ability to divide rapidly to produce significant amount of daughter cells in a reduce time frame. The regulation of the cell-cycle specific expression program is therefore key to their proliferation. Transcriptional regulation has a crucial role in establishing this expression program and transcription factors regulates many aspects of tachyzoite cell cycle.

Somatic Embryogenesis from the Leaf-Derived Calli of In Vitro Shoot-Regenerated Plantlets of 'Carola'.

Plants (Basel)

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Vegetable Biobreeding, Institute of Vegetables and Flowers, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing 100081, China.

Roses are one of the most important flowers applied to landscape, cut flowers, fragrance and food industries widely. As an effective method for plant reproduction, the regeneration via somatic embryos is the most promising method for breed improvement and genetic transformation of woody plants. However, lower somatic embryogenesis (SE) induction rates and genotypic constraints impede progress in genetic transformation in rose.

: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in children has been increasing, raising concerns about early detection and clinical management. Adipokines, which are secreted by adipose tissue, play a critical role in metabolic regulation and inflammation, while gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), as a liver enzyme, is linked to oxidative stress and metabolic disorders. The objective was to examine the association of circulating adipokines and GGT with metabolic syndrome risk in school-aged children from Northeast Mexico.
