Nowadays, the development of advanced anode materials is highly desirable for the increasing demand for high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Nanostructured MnO has received utmost attention due to high theoretical capacity (1230 mA h g ), abundant resources, environmental benignity, and shortened electron and ion diffusion paths. Unfortunately, poor electronic conductivity and strong aggregation inclination of MnO nanostructures result in disappointing electrochemical performances, which restrict their practical application as sole institute. Here, we propose smartly designed MnO @Fe O /CNT hybrid films, in which MnO nanosheets, Fe O nanoparticles and CNTs are hierarchically assembled in a unique stage of nanosheets-nanoparticles-nanotubes. The resulting MnO @Fe O /CNT hybrid films can be directly used as anodes without any polymer binders, and exhibit significant synergistic interactions among three components, achieving excellent reversible capacity and rate performance.

Modulating electronic structure to balance the requirement of both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is crucial for developing bifunctional catalysts. Herein, phase transformation engineering is utilized to separately regulate catalyst structure, and the designed NiFe@Ni/Fe-MnOOH schottky heterojunction exhibits remarkable bifunctional electrocatalytic activity with low overpotentials of 19 and 230 mV at 10 mA cm for HER and OER in 1M KOH, respectively. Meanwhile, an anion-exchange membrane water electrolyzer employing NiFe@Ni/Fe-MnOOH as electrodes shows low voltages of 1.

To investigate the remediation effect of iron-manganese-modified biochar from different biomasses (FM-BC) on Cd-contaminated alkaline soil, FM-BC was prepared using branches of , durian shells, and corn stalks. The characteristics of FM-BC, the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) in water, and the available, fraction of Cd in alkaline soil were studied using bath adsorption and soil culture experiments. The results showed that the specific surface area, total pore volume, and oxygen content of FM-BC were significantly improved.

Tunnel-type-structure NaMnO has been extensively researched for cathode material in aqueous rechargeable sodium-ion battery owing to its high specific capacity (120 mA h g), large channels facilitating Na extraction/insertion, chemical and electrochemical stability in aqueous electrolytes, and low cost. However, the low average working potential (0.1 V versus standard hydrogen electrode, SHE) and no more than half of its available theoretical capacity within full batteries limit the practical application.

Topotactic transformation is an emerging strategy for synthesizing materials with exotic functional properties. In this report, instead of producing new crystals with related structures, we exploited the topotactic transformation phenomenon to spontaneously produce compositionally diverse nanostructures on the transforming substrate. The surface of magnetite nanoparticles (FeO NPs) is topotactically transformed into maghemite (γ-FeO).

ROS-induced therapy can eradicate breast tumors when combined with thermal ablation, but excessive ROS also threatens peritumoral tissue with inflammation. To eradicate tumors and avoid inflammatory sequela, it is necessary to generate ROS in treatment stage and scavenge ROS in prognostic stage. However, it is a great challenge to reverse ROS in different stages.
