Article Abstract

Ionic liquids (ILs) exhibit behavior analogous to supercooled liquids at room or even higher temperatures. ILs usually work under an externally applied static electric field (E). In this work, molecular dynamics simulations were performed with 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluorborate ([EMI][BF]) under E, with the aim of discovering the influence of E on the dynamic heterogeneity of ILs. ILs show more homogeneous dynamics with increasing E, as indicated by non-Gaussian parameters and dynamic susceptibility. The dynamic heterogeneity is greater in the E direction than that in the perpendicular directions under the same E. Despite the dynamic heterogeneity, only a small decoupling between diffusion and relaxation is observed under E.

Role of immune cell homeostasis in research and treatment response in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Introduction Recently, immune cells within the tumor microenvironment (TME) have become crucial in regulating cancer progression and treatment responses. The dynamic interactions between tumors and immune cells are emerging as a promising strategy to activate the host's immune system against various cancers. The development and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) involve complex biological processes, with the role of the TME and tumor phenotypes still not fully understood.

Purpose: Pulmonary MRI faces challenges due to low proton density, rapid transverse magnetization decay, and cardiac and respiratory motion. The fermat-looped orthogonally encoded trajectories (FLORET) sequence addresses these issues with high sampling efficiency, strong signal, and motion robustness, but has not yet been applied to phase-resolved functional lung (PREFUL) MRI-a contrast-free method for assessing pulmonary ventilation during free breathing. This study aims to develop a reconstruction pipeline for FLORET UTE, enhancing spatial resolution for three-dimensional (3D) PREFUL ventilation analysis.

Background: Despite extensive analysis, the dynamic changes in prostate epithelial cell states during tissue homeostasis as well as tumor initiation and progression have been poorly characterized. However, recent advances in single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology have greatly facilitated studies of cell states and plasticity in tissue maintenance and cancer, including in the prostate.

Methods: We have performed meta-analyses of new and previously published scRNA-seq datasets for mouse and human prostate tissues to identify and compare cell populations across datasets in a uniform manner.

Heterogeneous fault architecture affects crustal seismotectonics and fluid migration. When studying it, we commonly rely on static conceptual models that generally overlook the absolute time dimension of fault (re)activation. Heterogenous faults, however, represent the end-result of protracted, cumulative and intricate deformation histories.

Bacteremia, a leading cause of death, generally arises after bacteria establish infection in a particular tissue and transit to secondary sites. Studying dissemination from primary sites by solely measuring bacterial burdens does not capture the movement of individual clones. By barcoding Klebsiella pneumoniae, a leading cause of bacteremia, we track pathogen dissemination following pneumonia.
