Purpose: The aim of this study was to describe the transcriptional changes of individual cellular components in the lacrimal sac in patients with primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction (PANDO) and attempt to construct the first lacrimal sac cellular atlas to elucidate the potential mechanisms that may drive the disease pathogenesis.
Methods: Lacrimal sac samples were obtained intra-operatively during the endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (EnDCR) procedure from five patients. Single-cell RNA sequencing was performed to analyze each individual cell population including epithelial and immune cells during the early inflammatory and late inflammatory phases of the disease.

Purpose: To compare the long-term symptom resolution and use of resources of performing endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (enDCR) in acute or delayed phase in patients with acute dacryocystitis (AD).
Methods: This prospective, randomised controlled trial was conducted in Helsinki University tertiary Eye and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Hospitals between September 2013 and January 2019. Fifty patients aged 18 and above presenting with AD in the emergency care were randomised into acute and delayed enDCR surgery groups, performed in 1 week or 4 months from the diagnosis of AD.

To explore the relationship between topical antiglaucoma therapy, both prostaglandin and non-prostaglandin based eyedrops, and persistence of epiphora in glaucoma patients who underwent EN-DCR surgery for PANDO. prospective observational cohort study of all over 65 years-old patients with a dacryo-CT documented diagnosis of PANDO who underwent EN-DCR, were affected by glaucoma and treated with either topical monotherapy prostaglandin eyedrops or other antiglaucoma molecules, up to 12-month postoperative follow-up. Patients were assessed with Fluorescein Dye Disappearance Test and Munk scale.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of monocanalicular silicone tube intubation outcomes as an initial surgical treatment in children older than 1 year old with primary nasolacrimal obstruction.
Methods: Probing or monocanalicular silicone tube intubation was performed as primary surgical treatment on 12-48 months old children with primary nasolacrimal obstruction. Probing was performed on 53 eyes of 43 patients and silicone tube intubation on 45 eyes of 39 patients.

Background: To introduce a treatment option: dacryoendoscopy-assisted incision of Hasner's valve under nasoendoscopy and assess its efficacy in treating membranous congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (CNLDO) in children older than 1 year with history of initial probing failure.
Methods: 52 eyes of 43 children with membranous CNLDO who underwent dacryoendoscopy-assisted incision of Hasner's valve under nasoendoscopy between May 2012 and October 2020 were enrolled in this retrospective study. All participants were older than 1 year and all the eyes had gone through probing at least once but still had symptoms of epiphora and discharge.
