There is, as a matter of fact, an ever increasing number of patients requiring total hip replacement (Pabinger, C.; Geissler, A. 734-741). Implant-associated acute inflammations after an invasive orthopedic surgery are one of the major causes of implant failure. In addition, there are instability, aseptic loosening, infection, metallosis and fracture (Melvin, J. S.; Karthikeyan, T.; Cope, R.; Fehring, T. K. 1285-1288). In this work, a drug-delivery nanoplatform system consisting of polymeric celluloce acetate (CA) scaffolds loaded with dexamethasone was fabricated through electrospinning. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated the successful fabrication of these structures. Cytotoxicity studies were performed by using MTT assay, methylene-blue staining and SEM fixation and showed very good cell adhesion and proliferation, indicating the cytocompatibility of these fibrous scaffolds. Drug-release kinetics was measured for the evaluation of a controllable and sustained release of anti-inflammatory drug onto the engineered implants and degradation study was conducted in order to assess the mass loss of polymers. This drug-delivery nanoplatform as coating on titanium implants may be a promising approach not only to alleviate but also to prevent implant-associated acute inflammations along with a simultaneous controlled release of the drug.

1-Isochromene scaffolds are ubiquitous in natural products and significant bioactive molecules. Although several methods for these molecular syntheses have been developed, reports on the efficient construction of iminated isochromenes are still rather limited. Herein, we report a new Cu(II)-catalyzed annulation and sulfonylimination cascade of α-carbonyl-γ-alkynyl sulfoxonium ylides with sulfamides, enabling direct C-C σ-bond elimination to furnish iminated ()-1-isochromenes in 51-97% yields.

Background: The utilization of decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) derived from animal testis tissue has demonstrated potential as a component of tissue-specific scaffolds. Current research is mostly centered around dECM as a natural resource for culturing testicular cells. This study aimed to assess firstly the comparison of Voytik-Harbin (VH) and Frytes protocol in creating Ram's dECM testis hydrogel and secondly the evaluation of the best protocol effect on spermatogenesis.

Large bone defects are still a persistent challenge in orthopedics. The availability limitations and associated complications of autologous and allogeneic bone have prompted an increasing reliance on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In this study, we developed an injectable scaffold combining an acellular extracellular periosteal matrix hydrogel with poly(d,l-lactate--glycol-acetate) microspheres loaded with the E7 peptide and miR217 (miR217/E7@MP-GEL).

We present a novel method for preparing bioactive and biomineralized calcium phosphate (mCP)-loaded biopolymer composite scaffolds with a porous structure. Two types of polymers were investigated as matrices: one natural, cellulose acetate (CA), and one synthetic, polycaprolactone (PCL). Biomineralized calcium phosphate particles were synthesized via wet chemical precipitation, followed by the addition of organic biominerals, such as magnesium gluconate and zinc gluconate, to enhance the bioactivity of the pure CP phase.
