We microscopically examined the dorsal lingual surface of an adult Asian golden cat (Catopuma temminckii). The papillae on the margin of the lingual apex were horny-shaped and fungiform. The filiform papillae on the anterior part of the lingual body were large and cylindrical; the connective tissue core of each of these comprised a large conical papilla. The filiform papillae on the central part of the lingual body were large and conical-shaped on the medial side and dome-shaped on the lateral side. The connective tissue core of each medial filiform papilla comprised a large main process and some secondary processes, while processes were absent on the lateral side. These findings are peculiar to the tongue of members of the family Felidae.

Island ecosystems have emerged as vital model systems for evolutionary and speciation studies due to their unique environmental conditions and biodiversity. This study investigates the population divergence, hybridization dynamics, and evolutionary history of hybridizing golden-backed and red-backed flameback woodpeckers on the island of Sri Lanka, providing insights into speciation processes within an island biogeographic context. Utilizing genomic analysis based on next-generation sequencing, we revealed that the hybrid zone on this island is a complex three-way hybrid zone involving three genetically distinct populations: two cryptic populations of golden-backed in the north and one island-endemic red-backed population of in the south of Sri Lanka.

The occurrence of cyclic morphological alternation in male crayfish of the family Cambaridae following molting is widely acknowledged. However, there remains a contentious issue within the genus : Some previous studies have proposed that male exhibit a pair of noncorneous Form II gonopods during the non-breeding season, while others argue that these species lack Form II in adult males. This study examined the color and shape of the corneous tips on the gonopod to determine its form.

Background: Epidemiologically important food-borne trematodes Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis are recognized as biological carcinogens of Group 1A, while Opisthorchis felineus is in Group 3 as noncarcinogenic to humans. Mechanisms of the biological carcinogenesis are still elusive. Some studies highlight chronic inflammation as a key factor and common pathway for cancer initiation and progression.

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has transformed pharmacogenomics (PGx), enabling thorough profiling of pharmacogenes using computational methods and advancing personalized medicine. The Thai Pharmacogenomic Database-2 (TPGxD-2) analyzed 948 whole genome sequences, primarily from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) cohort. This study is an extension of the previous Thai Pharmacogenomic Database (TPGxD-1) and specifically focused on 26 non-very important pharmacogenes (VIPGx) genes.
