The National Echocardiography Database Australia (NEDA) is a new echocardiography database collecting digital measurements on both a retrospective and prospective basis. To date, echocardiographic data from 435,133 individuals (aged 61.6 ± 17.9 years) with linkage to 59,725 all-cause deaths during a median of 40 months follow-up have been collected. These data will inform a number of initial analyses focusing on pulmonary hypertension, aortic stenosis and the role of artificial intelligence to facilitate accurate diagnoses of cardiac abnormalities.

Background: Few studies have incorporated echocardiography and laboratory data to predict clinical outcomes in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Objectives: This study aimed to use machine learning to find predictors of heart failure (HF) hospitalization and cardiovascular (CV) death in HFpEF.
Methods: From the Chang Gung Research Database in Taiwan, 6,092 HFpEF patients (2,898 derivation, 3,194 validation) identified between 2008 and 2017 were followed until 2019.

Calcified amorphous tumor (CAT) is a rare, mostly incidental tumor-like cardiac lesion of unknown histogenesis. Current imaging modalities do not differentiate between CAT and other masses. As it can be a source for embolization, surgical excision of CAT is mandatory.

As the population of adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) grows, there also grows an expanded need for non-invasive surveillance methods to guide management and intervention. A multimodal imaging approach layers complementary insights from echocardiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other modalities into a clinician's view of patient physiology. Merely applying strategies from acquired adult cardiac disease would be inadequate and potentially misleading.

Introduction: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an autosomal dominant vascular disease and screening to detect pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) is important to prevent complications. In adults, transthoracic contrast echocardiogram (TTCE) is used to screen PAVMs. In children, a conservative screening method seems to be sufficient to rule out major PAVMs and prevent them from PAVM-related complications.
