Coccidiosis is caused by apicomplexan parasites of the genus Eimeria, which infect epithelial cells of the intestinal tract causing diarrhea and negatively impacting production in the poultry industry. The self-limiting and highly immunogenic nature of infection by Eimeria spp. make live vaccination an effective means of coccidiosis control.

It has recently been recognized that the physical characteristics of biomaterials - such as size, structure, shape, charge, mechanical strength, hydrophobicity, and multivalency - regulate immunological functions in innate immune cells. In immuno-oncology applications, biomaterials are engineered with distinct physical properties to achieve desired innate immune responses. In this review, we discuss how physical characteristics influence effector functions and innate immune signaling pathways in distinct innate immune cell subtypes.

Human RAD52 is a prime target for synthetical lethality approaches to treat cancers with deficiency in homologous recombination. Among multiple cellular roles of RAD52, its functions in homologous recombination repair and protection of stalled replication forks appear to substitute those of the tumor suppressor protein BRCA2. However, the mechanistic details of how RAD52 can substitute BRCA2 functions are only beginning to emerge.

Biomolecular condensates (BCs) are crucial membraneless organelles formed through the process of liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) involving proteins and nucleic acids. These LLPS processes are tightly linked with essential cellular activities. Stress granules (SGs), functioning as cytoplasmic BCs, play indispensable roles in maintaining cellular homeostasis and are implicated in diseases like cancers and neurodegenerative disorders.

The moderate working voltage and high capacity of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) make them promising anode materials for aqueous calcium-ion batteries (ACIBs). However, the large radius and two charges of Ca cause TMDs to exhibit poor performance in ACIBs. Therefore, effective regulation strategies are crucial for enabling the application of TMDs in ACIBs.
