Propyl paraben is a widely used preservative in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and foods preventing microbial and fungal contamination. This study was designed to investigate antiandrogenic profiles of propyl paraben following oral doses at 10, 250, and 750 mg kg day to immature male rats using the Hershberger Bioassay. Rats were divided into six groups including solvent control, negative control (0.4 mg kg day testosterone propionate = TP), positive control (3 mg kg day flutamide = FLU) and treatment groups (10, 250, and 750 mg kg day testosterone propionate + Propyl paraben). Propyl paraben (PP) significantly decreased all accessory sex organ weights at each dose of 250 and 750 mg kg day compared to control groups. Thus, we found that propyl paraben had antiandrogenic activity within the supported results of increasing LH levels and histopathologic results such atrophy, hyalinization, and anastomosis on androgenic tissues.

Electronic address:

Population exposure to plastics is increasing, and plasticizers are frequently detected in humans as important ingredients of plastic products. However, patterns of exposure to harmful ingredients of plastics and their effects on neurofilament light chain (NFL), a marker of active brain pathology, are currently inconclusive. Herein, we employed a range of statistical methods to thoroughly investigate the impact of 24 plastic hazardous ingredients and their varying exposure patterns on NFL concentrations in the blood of the general population in 533 participants.

The aim of the present work is to investigate the photocatalytic degradation of propyl paraben (propyl para-hydroxybenzoate, PrP) using CuO-ZnO-NPs photocatalyst followed by the identification of the oxidation by-products. The CuO-ZnO-NPs material, synthesized using a green chemistry approach, was used as a photocatalyst for the removal of PrP. The nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, XRF, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, ATG/DTG, FTIR, SEM-EDX, BET and FRX techniques.

Ministry of Education and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Children's Environmental Health, Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Environmental phenols are a group of typical endocrine disruptors, and widely detectable in human breast milk and infant formulas. However, exposures data are scarce in early infancy, a particularly sensitive period to environmental pollutants exposures. We aimed to prospectively assess urinary concentrations of eighteen environmental phenols in infants from birth to 6 months of age and their associations with feeding patterns (breastfeeding, formula and mixed-feeding).

Phenols and parabens, as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), are prevalent in daily consumer products and industrial applications. Folate, a vital vitamin, plays a crucial role in numerous metabolic processes. The interaction between EDCs and folate is not well understood and warrants investigation.

In South Korea, a Human Biomonitoring (HBM) program, known as the Korean National Environmental Health Survey (KoNEHS), was launched in 2009. This study aims to provide an overview of environmental chemical exposures in South Korea based on data from the KoNEHS cycle 4 (2018-2020). To ensure population representativeness, Koreans aged 3 years and older were recruited from 426 sites across the country.
