Aim: The development of a new class of antimicrobial agents is the optimal lifeline to scrap the escalating jeopardy of drug resistance.
Experimental: This study aims to design and synthesize a series of pyrazolo-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]quinoxalines, to develop agents having antimicrobial activity through potential inhibition of dihyropteroate synthase enzyme. The target compounds have been evaluated for their in-vitro antimicrobial activity.
Results & Discussion: Compounds 5b, 5c were equipotent (minimal inhibitory concentration = 12.5 μg/ml) to ampicillin. The docking patterns of 5b and 5c demonstrated that both fit into Bacillus Anthracis dihydropteroate synthase pterin and p-amino benzoic acid-binding pockets. Moreover, their physicochemical properties and pharmacokinetic profiles recommend that they can be considered drug-like candidates. The results highlight some significant information for the future design of lead compounds as antimicrobial agents.

Aim: This research concerns the patentability of carvacrol; it could be helpful for researchers to easily identify any innovation in the biotechnological application of this monoterpene as well as other similar compounds.
Background: Like thyme or oregano, several plants in the Lamiaceae family produce carvacrol. It is one of the secondary metabolites with several biological activities, including the improvement in plants' resistance and their protection.

The marine environment is one of the major biomass producers of algae and seaweed; it is rich in functional ingredients or active metabolites with valuable nutritional health effects. Algal metabolites derived from the cultivation of both microalgae and macroalgae may positively impact human health, offering physiological, pharmaceutical and nutritional benefits. Microalgae have been widely used as novel sources of bioactive substances.

Infectious meningoencephalitides represent an important differential diagnosis for meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO) in dogs. Treatment of the latter requires immunosuppression, but laboratory test results for infectious agents may take several days to return. This study investigated whether the presence of masticatory muscle changes on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head can be used to distinguish dogs with neosporosis from those with MUO at the time of diagnosis.

Background: In approximately 80% of colorectal cancer cases, mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli () gene disrupt the Wingless-related integration site (Wnt)/β-catenin signaling pathway, a crucial factor in carcinogenesis. This disruption may result in consequences such as aberrant spindle segregation and mitotic catastrophe. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the ethanolic extract of red okra () pods (EEROP) in inducing apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells (SW480) by inhibiting the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

From a One Health perspective, dogs and cats have begun to be recognized as important reservoirs for clinically significant multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogens. In this study, we investigated the occurrence and genomic features of ESβL producing Enterobacterales isolated from dogs, in the province of Imbabura, Ecuador. We identified four isolates expressing ESβLs from healthy and diseased animals.
