Purpose: Is to compare the patterns, severity, and management of the high- and low-velocity mandibular war injuries managed at Al Shaheed Gazi Al-Hariri Hospital in Baghdad Medical City, Iraq, during a 2-year period.
Methods: Forty-one patients with a history of mandibular war injuries treated by our maxillofacial team were reviewed during a period of 2 years (2015-2017). All patients were treated in the Maxillofacial Unit of the Hospital of Specialized Surgeries in Baghdad Medical City.
Results: A 2-year retrospective study evaluated 41 patients with mandibular war injuries with a total of 94 fractures (comminution represents 79.06% of the bullet injuries, while it is only 62.74% with IED injuries). Management of these injuries was varied according to the severity of the injuries and resources available. Close reduction was used in 72.72% of the linear fracture cases, whereas open technique was used in 56.6% of the comminuted fractures.
Conclusions: Bullet injuries were associated with a higher number of mandibular comminuted fractures, in addition to more extensive bone loss. While shell injuries of IED (improvised explosive devices), on the other hand, were associated with higher infection rate and more postoperative complication.

Background: Soft tissue analysis can be used to assess anatomical features but may or may not accurately correlate with underlying hard tissue morphology, leading to an incorrect perception of malocclusion.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the reliability of different soft tissue reference lines used to evaluate anteroposterior lip position and the position of incisors and malocclusion and compare it with those assessed via hard tissue angles (LSMx and LIMd) and determine if they are true indicators of underlying protrusion of incisors and malocclusion.
Method: A total of 120 pre-treatment lateral cephalometric radiographs were selected where patients were 18-30 years old, diagnosed as Skeletal Class I, II (Division 1 and 2), and III malocclusion.

Introduction: The Cementoblastoma is a benign ectomesenchymal odontogenic neoplasm of the jaw, arising from an exuberant production of cemental tissue continuous with the roots of teeth (usually mandibular posteriors), resulting in a calcified mass adherent with the root apices.
Case Presentation: A curious case of a large Cementoblastoma, the size and shape of a ping pong ball, is presented, the first of its kind ever reported to involve the internal / medial / lingual aspect of the mandible, and presenting with unusual and deviant features.
Discussion & Conclusion: The Cementoblastoma is usually associated with certain inherent and pathognomonic features, making it rather straightforward to identify and diagnose.

In 2015, the VIRTUS helmet was introduced to UK Armed Forces and will ultimately replace the Mark 7 combat helmet. The VIRTUS helmet has a reduced trimline compared to the Mark 7 helmet and can incorporate attachments such as a visor, mandible guard and nape protection.
