Objectives: The () is an intracellular opportunistic protozoan parasite that infects approximately one-third of the human population worldwide. Honey has long been used for treatment of many diseases in folk medicine. Honey has exhibited significant anthelmintic, nematicidal and anti-protozoal activities. This study was conducted to investigate the immunological patterns in rats infected with who were treated orally with supplemented 15% honey (Saudi Arabia) for a period of 28 days.
Methods: Immunoglobulin M, immunoglobulin G, and cytokines were detected by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs). In addition, the mortality and the morbidity rates were assessed.
Results: Oral administration of honey as a natural food additive was experimentally shown to increase the antibody titer; furthermore, compared with the rats in the control group, the levels of the sera cytokines (IFN-, IL-1 and IL-6) were consistently higher at day 7 post-infection in the infected rats treated with oral supplements of honey.
Conclusion: Orally administered supplements of honey increased both the antibody titer and the cytokines (IFN-, IL-1 and IL-6) levels in rats infected with .

The hydrogel adhesives with strong tissue adhesion and biological characteristics adhm202404447are urgently needed for injury sealing and tissue repair. However, the negative correlation between tissue adhesion and the mechanical strength poses a challenge for their practical application. Herein, a bio-inspired cohesive enhancement strategy is developed to prepare the hydrogel adhesive with simultaneously enhanced mechanical strength and tissue adhesion.

Purpose: Treatment of severe burn wound injury remains a significant clinical challenge as serious infections/complex repair process and irregulating inflammation response. Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) have a multidirectional differentiation potential and could repair multiple injuries under appropriate conditions. Poly(L-lysine)-graft-4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid (PLL-g-HPA) hydrogel is an enzyme-promoted biodegradable in hydrogel with good water absorption, biocompatibility and anti-bacterial properties.

Background: Self-gripping mesh, made of monofilament polypropylene and covered by a layer of polylactic acid micro-hooks, is applied in ventral hernia repair, whereas cytological change and collagen expression around the mesh are rarely reported. The objective of this research was to compare inflammatory response and collagen proliferation between self-gripping and polypropylene mesh in rat model of incisional hernia.
Methods: Forty-five rats were randomly divided into unrepaired (UR) group, polypropylene (PP) mesh group, and self-gripping (SG) mesh group and euthanized at 1, 2 and 4 weeks postoperatively.

Background: A previous study found that MAF1 homolog, a negative regulator of RNA polymerase III (MAF1), protects the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE); however, the related molecular mechanisms remain unclear.
Subjects And Methods: In this study, a rat sepsis model was constructed using the cecum ligation and puncture (CLP) method. In vitro, rat brain microvascular endothelial cells and astrocytes were stimulated with serum from the sepsis model rats.

Given ketamine's conflicting impacts on the central nervous system, investigating its effects within an inflammatory context becomes crucial. This study aimed to assess the impact of varying ketamine doses on neurotrophin and inflammatory cytokine levels within the brains of rats submitted to the sepsis model. Wistar rats were submitted to the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) model of sepsis.
