Yarn-shaped supercapacitors (YSCs) once integrated into fabrics provide promising energy storage solutions to the increasing demand of wearable and portable electronics. In such device format, however, it is a challenge to achieve outstanding electrochemical performance without compromising flexibility. Here, MXene-based YSCs that exhibit both flexibility and superior energy storage performance by employing a biscrolling approach to create flexible yarns from highly delaminated and pseudocapacitive MXene sheets that are trapped within helical yarn corridors are reported. With specific capacitance and energy and power densities values exceeding those reported for any YSCs, this work illustrates that biscrolled MXene yarns can potentially provide the conformal energy solution for powering electronics beyond just the form factor of flexible YSCs.

Enzyme stability can be measured in a number of ways, including melting temperature, activity retention, and size analysis. However, these measurements are often conducted in an idealized storage buffer and not in the relevant enzymatic reaction media. Particularly for reactions that occur in alkaline, volatile, and high ionic strength media, typical analyses using differential scanning calorimetry, light scattering, and sodium dodecyl-sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis are not satisfactory to track the stability of these enzymes.

Photochromic films have attracted increasing attention for their potential in information storage and photoswitchable devices. Developing novel photochromic materials is still a highly challenging topic. In this work, we successfully obtained an unprecedented mixed-heteroatom-templated Er-incorporated polyoxometalate [HN(CH)]NaKH{Er(HO)WO[SeTeWO][B-α-TeWO]}·117HO () by concurrently introducing the [TeO] and [SeO] heteroanion templates into the Er/WO system.

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) promise high-energy-density storage but face safety issues due to dendrite-induced lithium deposition, irreversible electrolyte consumption, and large volume changes, which hinder their practical applications. Facilitating rapid charge transfer in electrode materials necessitates the optimization of their ionic transport properties. Currently, only a limited number of Li/Na-ion organic cathode materials have been identified, and those exhibiting intrinsic solid-phase ionic conductivity are even rarer. In this study, we present tetra-lithium and sodium salts with the generic formulae: A-Ph-CHP and A-Ph-PhP, wherein A = Li, Na; Ph-CHP = 2,5-dioxido-1,4-phenylene bis(methylphosphinate); Ph-PhP = 2,5-dioxido-1,4-phenylene bis(phenylphosphinate), as novel alkali-ion reservoir cathode materials.
