Recently, there are growing demands in manufacturing of net shape micro parts for wide range of applications due to the increasing interest in miniaturization. In this paper, the fabrication of tetragonal phase zirconia/alumina (YSZ/Al₂O₃) nanocomposite micro-parts with high quality is presented. The fabrication process is based on soft lithography and colloidal powder dispersion. Experimental results showed that by optimizing the soft lithography and the dispersion process, it was possible to produce high-resolution micro-parts with well dispersed alumina. The X-ray diffraction results had confirmed the important role of the alumina particles in eliminating the emergence of monoclinic phase while the microstructures reveal a pure tetragonal phase. In addition, the sintered YSZ/Al₂O₃ micro parts achieved micro hardness with 20% superior to the pure YSZ sintered micro-parts with the addition of 5% alumina.

To analyze the distribution characteristics of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among the occupational population in China's key industries during the period from 2018 to 2023, and to provide data support for the formulation of targeted prevention strategies. Between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2023, a cross-sectional epidemiological survey and a retrospective investigation were conducted in seven geographical regions of North China, East China, Central China, South China, Southwest China, Northwest China, and Northeast China, using a combination of epidemiological cross-sectional and retrospective surveys. The industries were stratified according to the degree of closeness to WMSDs, the size of the occupational population, and the importance of the national economy, and then cluster sampling was conducted according to the size of the enterprises (large, medium, and small) within each stratum.

Bone tissue is a biological composite material with a complex hierarchical structure that could continuously adjust its internal structure to adapt to the alterations in the external load environment. The fluid flow within bone is the main route of osteocyte metabolism, and the pore pressure as well as the fluid shear stress generated by it are important mechanical stimuli perceived by osteocytes. Owing to the irregular multiscale structure of bone tissue, the fluid stimulation that lacunar-canalicular network (LCN) in different regions of the tissue underwent remained unclear.

Engineering plastics are finding widespread applications across a broad temperature spectrum, with additive manufacturing (AM) having now become commonplace for producing aerospace-grade components from polymers. However, there is limited data available on the behavior of plastic AM parts exposed to elevated temperatures. This study focuses on investigating the tensile strength, tensile modulus and Poisson's ratio of parts manufactured using fused filament fabrication (FFF) and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) plastics doped with two additives: short carbon fibers (SCFs) and multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs).

Decontamination Validation of the BSL-4 Chemical Disinfectant Deluge Shower System.

Appl Biosaf

December 2024

National Microbiology, Public Health Agency of Canada, Winnipeg, Canada.

Introduction: Positive pressure breathing-air-fed protective suits are used in biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) containment laboratories as personal protective equipment to protect workers from high-consequence pathogens. However, even with the use of primary containment devices, the exterior surfaces of these suits could potentially become contaminated with those pathogens and result in their inadvertent removal from containment. To address the risk of such pathogens escaping from containment via contaminated protective suits, these suits are decontaminated in a disinfectant chemical shower situated in an anteroom prior to exiting the BSL-4 laboratory.

Statement Of The Problem: One of the most important factors in the clinical longevity of composite resin restorations is proper adhesion, which is achieved using phosphoric acid. Different phosphoric acid products might affect the micro-shear bond strength of composite resin to enamel.

Purpose: The present study aimed to evaluate the micro-shear bond strength of composite resin to sound enamel using six different brands of acid-etch agents.
