A monoclonal antibody specific for the chicken transferrin receptor was used to study receptor expression on circulating red cells from chick embryos of different ages. The use of indirect immunofluorescence with this antibody showed that all circulating immature reticulocytes and primitive series erythrocytes--but not erythrocytes from the definitive series--expressed the receptor. In all cells, the protein was synthesized as a 90-95-kD form. The retention of the transferrin receptor (and another proliferation-dependent cell surface protein) contrasted with the behaviour of a series of other developmentally regulated antigens which are lost during maturation of both primitive and definitive series erythroid cells.

Beta-propeller Protein Associated Neurodegeneration (BPAN) is a devastating neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease linked to variants in . Currently, there is no cure or disease altering treatment for this disease. This is, in part, due to a lack of insight into early phenotypes of BPAN progression and 's role in establishing and maintaining neurological function.

Glioblastoma presents a significant treatment challenge due to the blood-brain barrier (BBB) hindering drug delivery, and the overexpression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which promotes tumor invasiveness. This study introduces a novel nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) system designed for the delivery of batimastat, an MMP inhibitor, across the BBB and into the glioblastoma microenvironment. The NLCs were functionalized with epidermal growth factor (EGF) and a transferrin receptor-targeting construct to enhance BBB penetration and entrapment within the tumor microenvironment.

Specifically improving the intratumoral accumulation and retention and achieving the maximum therapeutic efficacy of small-molecule chemotherapeutics remains a considerable challenge. To address the issue, we here reported near-infrared (NIR) irradiation-activatable targeted covalent nanodrugs by installing diazirine-labeled transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1)-targeted aptamers on PEGylated phospholipid-coated upconversion nanoparticles followed by doxorubicin loading. Targeted covalent nanodrugs recognized and then were activated to covalently cross-link with TfR1 on cancer cells by 980 nm NIR irradiation.

Intravascular hemolysis releases hemoglobin (Hb) from red blood cells under specific conditions, yet the effect of hemolysis in aquaculture systems remain poorly understood. In this study, a continuous hemolysis model for grass carp was established by injection of phenylhydrazine (PHZ) to investigate the mechanistic impacts of sustained hemolysis. PHZ-induced hemolysis altered liver color, and subsequent hematoxylin and eosin staining revealed substantial Hb accumulation in the head kidney, accompanied by inflammatory cell infiltration and vacuolization in liver tissue.

Methods: The experiment involved three groups: the control group, the POCD group and the POCD + EA group. The POCD animal model was established using sevoflurane anesthesia and tibial fracture.
