Acquired benign tracheoesophageal fistula is a rare and challenging clinical condition requiring the combined efforts of team management. Numerous causes have been documented, the most common of which are endotracheal and tracheostomy tube-related injuries. The classic clinical presentation is a persistent and intense cough following deglutition. It is confirmed by endoscopic procedures on the aerodigestive tracts, and graphic displays of the fistula can be obtained from images obtained from contrast studies. Successful management mostly requires good preoperative preparation, careful intraoperative dissections at a single-stage intervention, and excellent postoperative care.

Oral melanocytic nevi (OMN) are rare benign tumors originating from melanocytes with an unclear pathogenesis. The current theory suggests that OMN originate from dormant dendritic melanocytes that become enclosed in the dermis during the embryonic migration of melanoblasts - the precursors of melanocytes - from the neural crest to the epidermis. OMN can be congenital or acquired, with acquired nevi being more common.

Beyond enchondromas, the most common bone tumors of the hand, there are numerous less common benign bone tumors and mimickers with which orthopaedic and hand surgeons should be familiar. These include other benign cartilage tumors, cystic lesions, osteogenic tumors, giant cell tumor, and fibrous dysplasia. Particularly unique lesions include bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (Nora lesion), florid reactive periostitis, turret exostosis (acquired osteochondroma), giant cell reparative granuloma (solid aneurysmal bone cyst), and epidermoid cyst.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is characterized by thrombotic microangiopathy resulting from decreased activation of the von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease (ADAMTS13). TTP can cause organ damage and is often fatal if the appropriate treatment is not started immediately. Although primary immune TTP is the most common form of TTP, secondary immune etiologies, including complications from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), have also been reported.

Easy bruising and ecchymosis are common symptoms in clinical practice, yet distinguishing benign from clinically significant cases can be challenging. We report the case of a 46-year-old woman who presented in December 2023 with easy bruising and increased menstrual flow, revealing new-onset pancytopenia in laboratory tests. Initially diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia inversion (inv) (16), subsequent results were inconclusive, leading to a diagnosis of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH).
