Identification and Validation of a m6A-Related Long Noncoding RNA Prognostic Model in Colorectal Cancer.

J Cell Mol Med

January 2025

Department of Colorectal Surgery, Cancer Hospital of China Medical University, Liaoning Cancer Hospital & Institute, Shenyang, China.

Accumulating research indicates that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays a pivotal role in colorectal cancer (CRC). Hence, investigating the m6A-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) significantly improves therapeutic strategies and prognostic assessments. This study aimed to develop and validate a prognostic model based on m6A-related lncRNAs to improve the prediction of clinical outcomes and identify potential immunological mechanisms in CRC.

Background: Nivolumab paved a new way in the treatment of patients with recurrent or metastatic (RM) head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (RM-HNSCC). However, the limited rates of long-term survivors (< 20%) demand a robust prognostic biomarker. This nationwide multi-centric prospective study aimed to identify a plasma exosome (PEX) mRNA signature, which serves as a companion diagnostic of nivolumab and provides a biological clue to develop effective therapies for a majority of non-survivors.

Objective: Gliomas are the most common intracranial tumors with the highest degree of malignancy. Disturbed cholesterol metabolism is one of the key features of many malignant tumors, including gliomas. This study aimed to investigate the significance of cholesterol metabolism-related genes in prognostic prediction and in guiding individualized treatment of patients with gliomas.

Background: Cuproptosis is a unique form of cell death that is dependent on copper, which is fundamentally different from other recognized forms of cell death. However, the molecular and immune characteristics in cuproptosis-defined subgroups of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) remain to be further illustrated.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive investigation into the genetic and transcriptional variation, prognostic significance, and expression profiles of 16 cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs).
