To investigate the correlation between fetoplacental circulation and maternal left ventricular myocardial work (MW) parameters in patients with preeclampsia (PE) and the prediction of fetal hypoxia. Seventy-eight PE patients (PE group) were assigned to intrauterine-hypoxia (27) and non-intrauterine-hypoxia (51) groups, and 45 healthy pregnant women were controls. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve evaluated the diagnostic efficacy of each parameter for fetal intrauterine hypoxia.

We describe the case of a 43-year-old woman presented with an 8-month history of intermittent non-specific abdominal pain. She had an Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) inserted 4-years ago and the device was still in-situ. Background: Schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease, affects approximately 40 million women of reproductive age contributing to preventable anaemia during pregnancy, intrauterine growth retardation and low birth weight. In spite of the high prevalence rate of this disease among school aged children in Abakaliki, no study in Abakaliki has looked at the burden of Schistosomal infection in pregnancy with a view to determining maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Objective: To determine the association between schistosomal infection and maternal anemia, low birth weight, and other neonatal outcomes in Abakaliki.

Background: Globally, small for gestational age (SGA) is increasingly prevalent, paralleling the common high-risk pregnancies with inappropriate gestational weight gain (GWG). However, whether maternal GWG was associated with their SGA offspring's long-term development remained unresolved.

Objective: To examine the associations of maternal GWG with the long-term physical and neurological development of SGA children based on a real-world cohort in our hospital.
