was screened from different seafood contact surfaces in five sampling sites of fishing harbour, fish landing centers, seafood processing plants, fish market, and fish curing yards of Tuticorin Coast of India. 115 swab samples were collected and tested for the occurrence of by conventional and molecular methods. Overall, 5.22% of swab samples collected were positive for . The fishing harbour had high incidence (10.3%) of followed by fish landing centers (5.9%), and seafood processing plants (4.1%). Boat deck, fish transport tricycle were the two seafood contact surfaces in fishing harbour, which had the occurrence of . The swab samples from fish market and fish curing yards were negative for . All the isolated colonies of were confirmed by PCR assay targeting virulent gene. The DNA of all the isolates yielded a product of 174 bp on PCR amplification in comparison with Type culture (MTCC 1143). The results clearly indicated the occurrence of in seafood contact surfaces along the Tuticorin Coast of India.

Dental professionals who handle dental amalgam are at risk of mercury exposure, though the prevalence and severity of elevated mercury levels from non-occupational sources are not well characterized. We report two dental workers who had elevated urinary mercury levels (37 and 25.6 mcg/L) during routine health screenings.

This research endeavored to engineer robust delivery matrices for bioactives, specifically benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC), by harnessing the synergistic covalent and non-covalent interactions between fish skin gelatin (FSG) and proanthocyanidins (PC) to synthesize novel composite emulsions. The objective was to delineate the influence of these molecular interactions on the emulsion's structural integrity and stability, which are pivotal for the efficacious encapsulation and controlled release of BITC. Employing a suite of analytical techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), fluorescence spectroscopy, and contact angle measurements, the study delineated the predominant molecular forces at play within the FSG-PC complex, identifying electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions as the cornerstones of this interaction.

Biomass-based aerogel with lightweight and high sustainability is desired for various applications such as thermal insulation, self-cleaning, and oil contaminant removal. However, systematic comparison and thorough investigation are required to understand the effects of constituent materials and structures on the application properties of biomass-based aerogels. Herein, the construction of superhydrophobic aerogel with controllable hierarchical structure and great reusability was optimized applying a novel design based on the waste silk-derived microfibrillated fibers and microfibrillated aramid fibers.

Bony fish is one of the big-nine allergenic foods in the US. This study established a monoclonal antibody (mAb)-based indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of bony fish tropomyosin (TM), a fish allergen. Immunoassay (Western blot and ELISA) was performed to characterize anti-TM mAb8F5 (target configuration, immunoaffinity, and species selectivity).

A 96-well microplate-based protein microarray chip which can simultaneously detect three different families of antibiotics using a multiplexed approach has been developed for the first time. All steps in the microarray chip can be completed through an automated biochip analyzer, enabling high throughput analysis of 96 samples within 60 min according to the set program. The microarray chip can be visually evaluated by the color depth of array points, and can also be quantified through a scanner.
