Understanding the nature of fluorescently-labelled molecules requires proper quantification of their colocalization. We developed a new approach to enable quantification of colocalization of markers in fluorescence microscopy images using mobile computers. It consists of three interacting components: desktop computer - cloud - mobile device. After an image is opened on a desktop computer, it is then saved to the cloud and becomes available to a mobile device. Functionality of the desktop and mobile software consists of the same steps and therefore allows using any of the platforms when performing analysis. Changes of the state of the image between devices are synchronized via the cloud, so that nothing is lost when switching them. All interactions are performed seamlessly in the background and do not require any input from the researchers' side. This approach augments access to analytical imaging by allowing to work in completely new ways with superior levels of control, simplicity, and convenience. © 2018 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Despite decades of improvements in cytotoxic therapy, the current standard of care for locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC) provides, on average, only a few months of survival benefit. Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), a technique that accurately delivers high doses of radiation to tumors in fewer fractions, has emerged as a promising therapy to improve local control of LAPC; however, its effects on the tumor microenvironment and hypoxia remain poorly understood. To explore how SBRT affects pancreatic tumors, we combined an orthotopic mouse model of pancreatic cancer with an intravital microscopy platform to visualize changes to the in vivo tumor microenvironment in real-time.

Magnetorheological (MR) fluids can be utilized in one of the fundamental operating modes of which the gradient pinch mode has been the least explored. In this unique mode non-uniform magnetic field distributions are taken advantage of to develop a so-called Venturi-like contraction in MR fluids. By adequately directing magnetic flux the material can be made solidified in the regions near the flow channel wall, thus creating a passage in the middle of the channel for the fluid to pass through.

Physical and photophysical properties of starch-based biopolymer films containing 5-(4-nitrophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine (NTA) powder as a nanofiller were examined using atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), stationary UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy as well as resonance light scattering (RLS) and time-resolved measurements, and where possible, analyzed with reference to pristine NTA solutions. AFM studies revealed that the addition of NTA into the starch biopolymer did not significantly affect surface roughness, with all examined films displaying similar Sq values ranging from 70.7 nm to 79.

The waste Lentinus edodes stalks from Lentinus edodes processing were used as raw materials by the steam explosion to prepare modified Lentinus edodes stalks dietary fiber and combined with tea polyphenols to form the SE-DF-tea polyphenols complex (SE-DF-TPC). The SE-DF-tea polyphenols mixture (SE-DF-TPM) was prepared according to the complex's optimal adsorption conditions. Fluorescence microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, particle size measurement, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze its structure, and the thermal stability of the complex and its adsorption capacity for lipids, cholesterol, and cholates were studied.

Backgrounds: Recent studies have found Several lncRNAs were proved differential expression in diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) patients, however, the mechanism of DOR caused by lncRNAs is still largely unclear.
Methods: High throughput sequencing was performed in ovarian GCs extracted from women with normal ovarian function and women with DOR. Bioinformation analysis was used to analyze the sequencing data and identify the differential expression of lncRNAs.
