Tubercular splenic abscess is extremely rare, but are reported commonly in HIV-positive and immunocompromised patients along with miliary or disseminated tuberculosis. Isolated tubercular splenic abscess in an immunocompetent individual is rarely reported. Here we present a case of a young, immunocompetent male with isolated splenic cold abscesses, who was diagnosed with splenic tuberculosis and managed successfully with percutaneous drainage and anti-tubercular therapy alone.

It has been reported that the nervous system can regulate immune reactions through various mechanisms. However, the role of splenic sympathetic nerve activity in the autoimmune reactions during the pathogenesis of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) remained unclear. Here, we blocked the activity of the splenic sympathetic nerve and found that the number of adaptive immune cells, such as CD4 T cells, CD8 T cells and B cells, were upregulated.

Esmolol has been demonstrated to mitigate inflammation damage and T lymphocyte apoptosis in septic cardiomyopathy. It has been established that the activation of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) by cluster of differentiation 4(CD4) T lymphocytes expressing choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) can prevent excessive inflammation and reduce splenocyte apoptosis in septic cardiomyopathy. Given the similar anti-inflammatory effects, we hypothesized that esmolol might be associated with α7 nAChR and thereby exert its cardioprotective functions.

Introduction: Wound healing causes heavy economic burdens for families and society, becoming a critical issue in the global healthcare system. While the role of immune cells in the wound healing process is well-established, the involvement of B cells remains poorly understood. This study aims to elucidate the essentiality of B cells in wound repair.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus is the causative agent of the emerging zoonotic respiratory disease. One of the most important prerequisites for combating emerging diseases is the development of vaccines within a short period of time. In this study, antigen-irradiated, inactivated SARS-CoV-2 viruses and the disaccharide trehalose were used to enhance immune responses in the Syrian hamster.
