A systematically designed and synthesized ribitol phosphate (RboP) oligomer using a series of building blocks, which make up the wall teichoic acid (WTA) of S. aureus, is presented. Based on the use of a solution-phase phosphodiester synthesis, a library of ribitol phosphate tetramers, decorated with d-alanine and N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc), were generated. The synthesized RboP tetramers showed increased cytokine levels in mice in a subcutaneous air pouch model.

Dystroglycanopathy is characterized by reduced or lack of matriglycan, a cellular receptor for laminin as well as other extracellular matrix proteins. Recent studies have delineated the glycan chain structure of the matriglycan and the pathway with key components identified. FKRP functions as ribitol-5-phosphate transferase with CDP-ribitol as the substrate for the extension of the glycan chain.

Iron (Fe) deficiency is one of the most common micronutrient imbalances limiting plant growth globally, especially in arid and saline alkali regions due to the decreased availability of Fe in alkaline soils. grows well in arid regions and is tolerant of Fe deficiency. Here, a physiological and metabolomic approach was used to analyze the short-term molecular response of roots to Fe deficiency.
