The total synthesis of highly potent and scarcely available marine natural product (-)-jahanyne was attempted resulting in a solution-phase synthesis of pruned versions with comparable activity. A simple and facile synthetic route was employed for the preparation of pruned congeners and would be scalable. The lipophilic tail of the natural product was synthesized from -(+)-citronellol, utilizing easily available chemicals. All the synthesized compounds were screened for apoptotic activity against a panel of cell lines. These compounds depicted marked binding to B cell lymphoma 2 till 50 °C in cellular thermal shift analysis.

Background: There are insufficient studies to determine whether sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) will help reduce early diabetic cardiomyopathy, especially in patients without documented cardiovascular disease.
Methods: We performed a single center, prospective observation study. A total of 90 patients with type 2 diabetes patients without established heart failure or atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease were enrolled.

Background: Viruses that infect prokaryotes (phages) constitute the most abundant group of biological agents, playing pivotal roles in microbial systems. They are known to impact microbial community dynamics, microbial ecology, and evolution. Efforts to document the diversity, host range, infection dynamics, and effects of bacteriophage infection on host cell metabolism are extremely underexplored.

Background: Intestinal Behçet's syndrome (IBS) has high morbidity and mortality rates with serious complications. However, there are few specific biomarkers for IBS. The purposes of this study were to investigate the distinctive metabolic changes in plasma samples between IBS patients and healthy people, active IBS and inactive IBS patients, and to identify candidate metabolic biomarkers which would be useful for diagnosing and predicting IBS.

Background: Despite evidence supporting interventions that improve outcomes for patients with stroke, their implementation remains suboptimal. Facilitation can support implementation of research into clinical practice by helping people develop the strategies to implement change. However, variability in the amount (dose) and type of facilitation activities/facilitator roles that make up the facilitation strategies (content), may affect the effectiveness of facilitation.

Approximately 30-50% of SSc patients develop interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD), with 30-35% of related deaths attributed to it. Even though men are less likely to develop systemic sclerosis, they have a higher incidence of SSc-ILD than women, and they tend to develop it at a younger age with a higher mortality rate.
