Introducing phenylphosphonic acid (H PPA) into the Ag/tBuSH assembly system has produced a family of nanoscale-sized, high-atom number, silver thiolate/PPA nests (SD/Ag45 a, SD/Ag66 a, and SD/Ag73 a) with impressive core-shell features. SD/Ag45 a is a 45-atom ellipsoid comprised of an Ag shell trapping an Ag S three-bladed rotor inside. SD/Ag66 a comprises an inner rod-like Ag core and an outer Ag shell, giving a 64-atom nest. These Ag nests are further extended by Ag(CN) linkers to form a one-dimensional chain structure. SD/Ag73 a is a three-shell 73-nucleus silver nest with a central silver atom enclosed in a rhombicuboctahedron of 24 silver atoms, which is itself enclosed in the outermost shell of a rectified version of a 48-Ag octahedral Goldberg 2,0 cage. The solution behaviors and optical absorption properties of the three nests are described in detail. Of note, SD/Ag45 a and SD/Ag73 a emit in the near-infrared region and show different luminescent thermochromic behavior. This work demonstrates that the participation of H PPA strongly influences the structures of silver thiolate nests, thus providing a new route to fabricate and modify them in a more rational way.

Parental relationship dissolution is among the most prevalent life crises for youths and is associated with both short- and long-term intra- and interpersonal struggles. Extant support programs tend to be in-person and in a group format. However, the structure and personnel needed for these programs make them costly to implement, less accessible, and difficult to scale.

Amidst growing concerns over COVID-19 aftereffects like fatigue and cognitive issues, NRICM101, a traditional Chinese medicine, has shown promise. Used by over 2 million people globally, it notably reduces hospitalizations and intubations in COVID-19 patients. To explore whether NRICM101 could combat COVID-19 brain fog, we tested NRICM101 on hACE2 transgenic mice administered the S1 protein of SARS-CoV-2, aiming to mitigate S1-induced cognitive issues by measuring animal behaviors, immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis.

Cystic basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a rare subtype of BCC (1). Histologically, it is usually characterized by multiple small cysts without a clinical cystic appearance (2). Herein, we report an unusual case of cystic BCC with a large vulvar cyst.

Metastatic Sclerosing Epithelioid Fibrosarcoma at Diagnosis: A Case Report.

Cureus

December 2024

Pathological Anatomy, Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto Francisco Gentil, Porto, PRT.

Sclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma (SEF) is a rare and aggressive neoplasm composed of epithelioid cells arranged in strands and nests embedded in a highly sclerotic collagenous stroma. We report a case of a 36-year-old man who started with lumbar pain, with extension to both legs, night sweats, and weight loss. He underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the lumbar spine; computed tomography (CT) scan of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis; and [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) scan.

Reproductive strategies in loggerhead sea turtle : polyandry and polygyny in a Southwest Atlantic rookery.

Departamento de Ciências Biológicas, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Laboratório de Genética e Evolução Molecular, Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil.

Sea turtles are highly migratory and predominantly inhabit oceanic environments, which poses significant challenges to the study of their life cycles. Research has traditionally focused on nesting females, utilizing nest counts and mark-recapture methods, while male behavior remains understudied. To address this gap, previous studies have analyzed the genotypes of females and hatchlings to indirectly infer male genotypes and evaluate the extent of multiple paternity within populations.
